A couple of weeks ago we drove into Banbury as I decided that we really ought to buy each other a card

On Thursday afternoon we drove into a garden centre near where Mum lives and DH sent me into the flower/tree area whilst he wandered off and ordered something …….. which he collected on Friday afternoon: a mix of pale lemon orchids and freesias in a 'corsage' which was pinned to my outfit for the evening.
Evening meal was enjoyable. His brother and wife turned up on time
and Mum was sociable. She made up a box of small gifts which we opened over the weekend …….. she had made a nice effort. She treated us to the meal and gave us some money to buy a gift - we have our eye on a bronze and a painting - we know an artist who does beautiful work finished with gold leaf. His brother's gift however
and I really can't get it into my head that 'it's the thought that counts'
. I'm trying to forget their choice …
