What are the costs of the implant privately?  And is it easily sourced?

I get.mine via.andrew pickersgill at the alex in cheadle.  Thry have an accumulative effect, it takes a few weeeks to kick in.  Everyone is different until you try you dont.know.  they are.preffered for ladies who are in surgical by.my.chap the reason some have issues is because.they also have fluctuating levels from ovaries.  Happy to chat to you privately if.you prefer

Ive seen two consultants privately without a gp referral... best thing i ever did!  they obviously asked for the details of my doctor and both wrote to my gp to tell him what tests i had and why..... but to be honest i agree...why should you need a referral. In fact  i noticed a more of proactive and sympathtic approach by my gp when he realised id taken my self off to see a consultant . My body my health ... nothing wrong with taking control.

I've been on 4 pumps of oestrogel daily (plus utrogestan) for a year now. I'm 44. It works well to address some of my symptoms...but...it has significant disadvantages too, and I want to try an oestrogen implant.  I've spoken to a menopause specialist who is very supportive but she no longer runs a menopause clinic (I see her under the radar of a sexual health clinic) and neither of us know yet how to get the implant authorised since it has been discontinued.  She used to provide it regularly prior to this.

I'm aware the Chelsea and Westminster still offer implants, but I live in Cheshire so that's no use to me.

Can anyone help please?

An alternative could be a higher dose patch? Professor Studd talks about 200mcg (2x100) on his website. At least that way, you can easily stop taking it if you have problems. I know a number of younger people who have implants and love them, but my own friends (early 40s) have had less positive experiences, weight gain being a common factor. Have you considered the BCP? GypsyRoseLee is doing a thread on her experience of switching to a 3mg pill.

However: from the other side of the bed I have seen patients who are less than honest with a Consultant for various reasons, so it can become dangerous is the Consultant doesn't have a full history from the GP.

They cannot get testosterone implants at the min oestrogen they can.  The price of the implant itself is around 60 the price for insertion would vary as you would be new patient i get mine cheaper as im existing patient happy to give his secretary no.  Mine costs 250 overall.  I wouldnt swap my implant they are better for surgical ladies and give best bone protection. 
Wouldnt touch tablets with a bargepole conjugated no thanks

The BMS are now reporting that both are available.

LancashireLass do you think you could let me know which consultants you found who will do the implant.  I am around Preston/Lancaster area.  I am struggling to find anyone despite being a patient of a private BMI hospital.
