Bucket  :o

 ;D

Explanation....are you in a tent.

I was up in the night and guided myself half asleep only to discover my dear hubby had put both seat and lid down. I backed up and sat down only to discover I was sitting on the lid....and blooming cold it was. I just thought I was lucky not to wee all over the floor.

If I've told him once .... ::)

Hi BJ and all our other ladies doing the week test!

Well, it's the end of the week, how do you all feel - do you feel that thinking positive has helped with your anxiety?

For myself, although thinking positive thoughts hasn't stopped the anxiety (I didn't expect it to and it has only been a week after all), I do feel that it has helped me ride through it better and helped me to cope better when the anxiety strikes. In fact for the milder attacks I think it did make quite a bit of difference.

It's hard work this not giving in ha ha, but I am going to continue with this attempt to re-train my brain, so it's a thumbs-up from me.

I hope you're all doing ok x

Hi Grangravy,

That's a good analogy re driving, that's what I want to aim for, to work towards 'automatically' thinking positive. I do agree, if you are so used to thinking negatively which is a 'side effect' of anxiety - not because we're negative people in general ie before this damn menopause hit I certainly wasn't, then that becomes an automatic habit. So I want to form a new habit of thinking positively. It is so interesting how our mind works and I do believe we can take charge of it - no matter how hard it is!

That week went fast, all good to me :)  Not posted so much as had a poor few days.  But today is good.

One more job to do and then I am going to town (this is an achievement for me) to meet my friend for a coffee and maybe cake too ;)  I cant remember the last time I did this.  I usually think it is too short notice to ask her on the same day, but today I thought 'well, if she is busy then so be it' so I text her and she said 'love to, see you then' :)

Way to go SadLynda and Grangravy! That's positivity in action, deciding to get out and do something even if it is difficult. I always feel good after I do something like that, spurs me on to do another one.

Enjoy the cake SadLynda - yeah I'm like that, never like to ask anyone at short notice as I feel like I might be a nuisance, but that's proof that I shouldn't worry! Sorry about your lamb chops GranGravey - there now, a reason to go again another day!

Well then... that's made up my mind. I was going to give my bike a miss today as it's raining but after work I am going out to play on it anyway!

In other news, my new mattress is due to be delivered this week. I can't wait to try it out  ;)

Great idea Galadriel, I have also been playing in the rain doing my fences (well helping the fencing guy anyway!).

Ooh re the mattress, I don't suppose your Celeborn is going to complain, and, if you can nudge Aragorn my way, well I'll go buy a new whole bed especially! (Am assuming am talking to another LOTR fan - if not you'll just think I'm a nutter!)

yay, great positives and stories.

I'm back, one hot chocolate with cream and one v.large chocolate cake later (yes, I will regret that one later, but who cares).  I had a fab day.  My friend said she often thinks the same, but knowing how hard it was for me to venture into town she never liked to ask for fear of putting pressure on me, so sure we will do this more often now.  She will be joining the forum soon, she just needs a new desktop pc to arrive and her and her vast amount of meno problems will be here, she has loved hearing all about it.

meanwhile the husband who was 'meant' to be here dog sitting went out to sort out a new lease car leaving me not knowing what to do about tea, phoned up and said leave it he will fetch a chinese home, so good day all round really :)

what lovely stories, I love yours grangravy, very well done  :foryou:.

I have been out all day at friends with husband and dog.  We had a lovely day and a lovely pub lunch (must post in pub thread).

One week on and I do feel the difference.  I am not positive every minute, old habits die hard, but my attitude to the not so positive times is shifting so will we keep on with this?  yes I think so.

Let's keep in touch via this thread and support each other because it seems to be doing us some good  :)

Babyjane I'm glad you also feel it's helping, yes let's keep it going, I do find it really comforting when we're all on here, it really is a support network! What a lovely day you've had too!

At the risk of you all thinking I've lost it completely, there's a 'thing' I've been doing this week; whenever a negative thought comes in, I actually picture me getting hold of it with my mind and moving it into a box then pushing it away into the open sky, whilst saying "Perspective" (as in keep things in perspective - I tend to magnify bad things). I do all this silently and without movement of course or they'll be sending the yellow vans for me. It nips the smaller negative thoughts in the bud in 5 seconds flat. It hasn't fully worked with the worst anxiety yet, but maybe I can build up.

In the meantime, like you SadLynda I have made an impromptu arrangement for a meal in with a friend and we are having a Chinese. I also have a bottle of red wine waiting - gawd knows what that's going to do but I'm in a 'who blooming cares' slightly carefree mood! x

Yes Unhinged, I'm another mad LOTR fan. I've been reading the trilogy every year since I first discovered the books aged 16.
Celeborn (DH for all you non-fans) is very excited about the new arrival. Next time I see Aragorn, I'll nudge him in your direction... he's left his swords in my study!!!

I do a similar mind exercise for negative thoughts. I relax and go to my 'safe place'. Then there's a wall with a lovely pair of closed curtains - Cath Kidston Cherry pattern (I have a vivid imagination). I open the curtains and see a pair of small lift doors (like a dumb waiter). I press the button and the lift rises. Inside is a steel chest, padlocked. I open the box, put the negative inside, and lock the box. I can even hear the click of the padlock! I press the button again and the box descends deep into the earth. I close the doors and the curtains and walk back into my safe place and stay there for a few moments, before returning to reality.

Enjoy your Chinese and wine.

Mmmmm Chocolate Cake... Sounds like you had a nice impromptu meeting SL

I agree babyjane, this is helping me focus on the many positives out there so I'm keeping going with it.

Galadriel - Aragorn has left his swords in your study? Well that's just plain greedy! But thanks, do send him my way next time you see him! Gosh you're just like me, I was a fan long before the films ever came, I don't think I've read it as much as you but I have read it in full 16 times plus dipping in and out of favourite passages as extra. Nice to hear of a real pre-film fan!

Your routine does sound similar to mine, thanks for telling us about that, I wasn't sure if I sounded a bit 'weird', so was grateful to read yours!

Thanks, I will enjoy the Chinese and wine - and maybe watch ROTK with it! x

Loving all these posts- they really make me smile thank you 😊😊😊😊😊 I've just done 60 lengths of the pool (ok it's a small pool but it sounds good) and instead of my usual counting I decided to repeat a saying as I swam.  I though of 'there's nothing to fear but fear itself' and 'every day in every way I'm feeling better and better'!  10 mins in the jacuzzi and I'm off home feeling relaxed refreshed and a little wrinkly! !!!

I will be away from the forum for a few days due to family birthday, whole family including grandchildren descending for the weekend and a laptop that I am sure is menopausal and needs attention.

Keep positive everyone, I am going to have a lovely weekend, I am, I really am  :)
