Good Luck Sarai.

BJ - he is fine now in the house, better in the car.  He loves us too, just too much - he now thinks everyone out there is trying to kill us and he must protect us from them all.

having a think for a postive...............

fish n chips for tea so no cooking :)

my positive thought for today -

I was thinking last night in bed, my symptoms have abated considerably since 5 years ago.  In fact I feel a lot better than I did 12 months ago  :)

The symptoms I do still get are milder too and I believe the menopause does run its course and eventually levels out with or without help, whichever way you choose  :yipi:.

Hi Babyjane and all, Babyjane I've only just got in from work so have just seen your post! This gives me great hope, please can you tell us more, what the worst of the symptoms were 5 years ago and how they've improved now? I'm been thinking about if the menopause does run its course and what is in store, this is the first post I've read on this subject so am very very interested in what you said! x

My positive for today: I'm excited about my coach trip tomorrow. I have to get up at three as the coach leaves at 5 so I'd better go bed soon!

unhinged my main struggles were low mood, irritability, loss of energy, hot flushes, night sweats, vaginal atrophy, loss of libido, insomnia and, more recently, anxiety.

I have used Vagifem successfully for 4 years now and over the last 12 months the flushes and night sweats have become less, not every day, and when they do they only last a few minutes. I do have episodes of insomnia but they don't go on for weeks and weeks like they did.

I believe, and this is my opinion, that whilst the oestrogen levels are fluctuating the body is in turmoil, not knowing which way is up and that is when you get a deluge of symptoms.  Gradually I think that the hormone levels, although lowered, become more stable and the body starts to adjust to the new setting and the symptoms get milder.  This is my opinion and I know some ladies have symptoms well into their 70s and beyond.  Other ladies have less trouble.

It is such a personal thing and one lady's experience will not necessarily be the same for another but this is what I, personally, have found so far.

Thanks very much Babyjane, that makes sense re the oestrogen levels, I have read that it's when they're fluctuating that we suffer, I know it'll be different for everyone but it still gives me hope, after two years of increasingly worse symptoms and I'm hoping that in another couple of years I'll be lucky and they start to settle.

But even if they don't, I honestly believe that it won't stay this bad forever! (I really do, that's not a 'pretending' comment!)

I know a lady who had her last hot flush aged 71, then she never had another and is now fine.

If we live long enough then it is bound to come to an end  :)

Oh crikey, 71? Mind you I suppose that would be ok if symptoms were milder, I can deal with flushes, it's the rest of it. I have noticed though, you don't see many elderly ladies with anxiety do you? So it must stop when hormones settle - can't wait for that day, it will come! (Just got to survive for long enough ha ha - that did make me chuckle!)

unhinged I know another lady who is 63 and has never had a hot flush.

Like I said, you can't compare your own situation with anyone else's as you are you x

We don't know how others are feeling  ;) - that could be a positive 'cos if I thought others were freaking out I would join them!

it's strange, don't know if it is coincidence but over the last few days my mindset seems to be shifting and my glass seems to be filling up a little.  Just a few drops here and there but I seem to be finding more positive alternatives to issues that arise and things aren't mattering quite so much.

I do hope it lasts but I can't do it on my own so I will keep this thread up if that is all right with others  :)
