Just finished my third cycle of Utro and within 24 hours of taking the last tablet my bleed has started. This happened last month too.

Just wondered if this was normal as my GP said there would be a gap 'of a few days' between finishing the Utro and my bleed starting.

My withdrawal bleeds aren't heavy at all, quite light really and just a few mild cramps when they start. But my boobs feel swollen and very tender.

Before I started HRT when I had my period my boobs didn't swell or get painful at all. Just no change at all and no cramps either. But before peri menopause I always used to get very painful breasts and cramps before a period.

Was wondering why I have reverted back now to getting cramps and breast tenderness?

My bleed usually starts on day 8-9 of taking Utrogestan.  This month I'm getting slight spotting from day 2!!!
I think it depends on how well we respond to progesterone. I'm not too concerned - the important thing is to shed the womb lining so as long as I get a good bleed I'm not worried. The cramps and breast tenderness tends to vary for me - again it's about our bodies adjusting to the hormones.  I've reduced the amount of oestrogen I use (just enough to keep my flushes at bay) as I find this reduces the breast tenderness.  DG x

Thanks DG. I am loath to reduce my oestrogen when it's only since I have been on the higher dose that my anxiety and depression have finally gone away.

I think I'm okay with the Utro though after about day 6/7 on it I struggle to properly wake up in the mornings. Need a strong cup of coffee to kick start me. Are you the same?

It varies from woman to woman. I used to have a two day break from the last progesterone containing patch to my bleed starting but a friend has always bled on the day after (sometimes only twelve hours after) taking her progesterone containing HRT pill.

I've been on utero 3 months now and have still yet to have a bleed in the break period.  The Dr told me this is okay so I'm assuming it is.

Greenfields - how are you taking your Utro? - are you doing 25 days on and 3 days off? If so that is the continuous version so you may not get a bleed. I assume GRL is doing a sequi regime.  DG x

Yes I'm doing 25 days on, 3 days off - so that's probably why.  I wish I could take it the other way in some ways as my sleep (I think) is better when I don't take the Utro - however, the Dr said that taking the Utro continuously would be better for my anxiety?  I'm not clear on the reasoning and I should have asked her more really.
Also when I mentioned wanting to switch it the last time I saw her because of having to get up in the night for a pee regularly she said something about I could, if I wanted to, try another HRT - but to be honest I really didn't want to start messing around with yet another HRT when I may have to move house and country in a few months.  So I've left things as they are for now.

Progesterone, particularly Utrogestan, has a calming effect so this is probably why your gynae wants you doing the continuous version.  If you did the sequi version you might get the big dip in mood with the withdrawal bleed. Other synthetic progesterones can give more side effects.  I'd stick with Utrogestan if you can. DG x

Ah thanks for that information.  I knew she had told me something like that before but I couldn't remember the details - so that absolutely makes sense.

I used to get up to pee about once in the night occasionally but I really notice it now while on the utero - I often have to get up several times and it feels discombobulating and I don't like the disruption.  However, I wouldn't want to experience a big dip in mood so will stick with what I've been prescribed for now.  And I definitely don't want to try other synthetic progesterones!
