Great post Paula - such positive support and advice - so pleased to hear you are finding a good way forward.

Peterspot - do seek help if you are this low - you need to see your GP and possibly consider some short term ADs to help you through this - Paula has given some really good thoughts.

Thank you so much Paula. It has really helped. I feel all you felt.

& I blame myself for ruining my families lives. I hate myself for having the cystoscopy.

My GP has prescribed AD but I haven't taken them but I think I need to.  I'm sitting crying because work has sent me beautiful flowers saying hope I feel better & I don't & im crying for the life I have lost.  I tried to drive but it hurt & where I had the cystoscopy my urethra is hurting &
I didn't have that before. I am so tired of being in pain. Bless you for keep responding. I don't think I have ever felt so desperate & low. I feel ashamed to take that ADs but I hurt so much & I am so sad.

There is no shame in taking ADs, why on earth should there be. Just because it's not something you can see doesn't mean it's not happening.

Try what your GP has prescribed and see if they help. It could take a little while but hopefully they will help you cope.

Are you going to receive anymore treatement for your bladder. There are other options of medications that will help nerve pain.

Having you started with Vagifem to see if that may help.

Sometimes just making a few positive steps makes you feel more in control.

Hi Peterspots

Thank you for your reply.

Bladder and urethral pain is very much underestimated - it can be excruciating. I told the consultant it was on par to dilation contractions in childbirth - except it it was often relentless and didn't end with a baby!

When I was discharged from a teaching hospital last summer ( still in huge pain, but sent home with yet more packs of ineffective strong painkillers and a useless antispasmodic drug ), the male doctor who discharged me told me some people with PBS just  wanted to ' rip their bladders out'. I should have reported him to the urology consultant, but  at the time I felt very ill - I just didn't have the energy or will to respond to his thoughtless and cruel comment.

There are PBS ( painful bladder syndrome ) clinics at outpatients in many of the larger hospitals. I was offered treatment at one of these clinics, but fortunately as time went by the oestrogen pessaries, cream and antidepressant kicked in, so I didn't need to go to any of the sessions.

You are not alone, Peterspots.

As I said, hang on in there!

Kind Regards

Peterspots - you have had advice from your GP, a Consultant in A&E and from the ladies on here.  Now it is up to you to make a note of the suggestions, otherwise your pain won't improve and you will continue to feel depressed.

As for ruining your families lives ……… that's in your mind probably, not theirs, have you actually asked them how they feel about these last few weeks?  Assumption can cause all kinds of un-necessary problems!  It's your guilt and state of mind, but unless you ask them for support  :-\

If you feel ashamed of taking medication then DON'T tell anyone! it's nowt to do with anyone else after all.  My husband, my GP and myself are the ONLY people who know which medications I take.  A few friends are aware that I need chemical support but don't know what I swallow every day.  That leaves me in control of who knows what.

For years I was afraid to try anything different in case it made me worse, whether it was eating, drinking, taking medication ……. for 3 months I had no Life at all but eventually the medication did begin to work and I could see sunshine again.

Thank you all again. I am now on the HRT & Vagifem (3 days) I think 6 months of face pain (3 months previous to that off family stress re daughter) & then the bladder pain has caused me to find life very hard. If the issues with my face/bladder I would not be on this situation but merrily going to yoga 3x a week & Zumba once. Enjoying my 4 day a week school secretary job. The little ones are a joy. Enjoying my Mexico all inclusive holiday & spending as much time taking my daughter out & travelling together before uni. I loved the life I was living. Out with friend, hubby, family, sisters. The pain has just stopped my life & I am scared & sad. I am angry that I can't cope at the moment & I am scared. I will take the AD as I want to emotionally feel better but it is a direct result of the pain.  Thank you all again for taking the time. It may sound like self pity but it is desperation to be in this situation

Paula the consultant did think my face pain was from shingles or muscle spasm on the nerves. So I understand how devastating getting another painful thing.  I think the biggest thing would be to know I'm going in the right direction.  I wake up each morning with hope and then I feel better. It was so kind of you to post about something so personal.

I take my AD at night so I can sleep through any side-effects.  It helps my morning mood  ;)

Doc said I am severely anemic & could be contributing to nerve pain in face/tingling

Have to go back next week.

Yes, I had a Physio appointment for my face today but I was I a lot of discomfort underneath & I mentioned I can't feel my bladder filling. She thought the problem was with my sacral joint. I have told gynaecologist & my GP I can't feel it but they don't seem to be concerned.

I am concerned. It isn't right not to feel my bladder filling/full &
I don't know what what the long term consequences are. Having MRI Friday of pelvis.

Had MRI & contacted the urology team again & said there must be a medical reason I do not have the urge pressure to wee. They preciously said it must be a coincidence but I said I didn't have this problem before cystoscopy
