Smoothie recipes
« on: July 14, 2015, 01:04:31 PM »

Ok, here we go for the smoothie recipe thread. All your recommended recipes here so I can organise my first smoothie shopping trip.  I have already made a note of apple juice to mix. And I still have a head of celery in the fridge so any recipes with celery would be good.

will you keep to veg. only and fruits only?

carrots
kale
peas

soft fruits
bananas
melons
advocado

It will depend on which colour it turns out as to whether it's drinkable  :D

My daughter likes....mango peach and raspberry.
Banana, Apple and pear.
Strawberry plums and apricot.
Spinach, and pear.
Mixed red fruits and apples.

She usually uses apple juice as the liquid along with ice cubes.

The only one that went a really funny colour was a date and banana one. It was a dirty brown.

Basically she just throws in what we have got. She also goes late to the supermarket and buys the fruit that's on offer.

I've just bought one of these so were experimenting too :

Banana ,Greek low fat or not so low fat yoghurt and orange juice plus half an orange.
Mango, melon and strawberry with a bit of orange juice
Blueberries and strawberry and apple juice

I'll keep adding them as we make them x

You have to remember, if you put green and red together it will make brown, personally the colour my drinks turn out don't bother me  it's the taste that counts .......Today I have had....Kale,blueberries,a kiwi (washed and skin added) ,half a banana and a few walnuts.....and I just added water. It was green.
I have my Bullet pocket nutritionist book , it tells you what most fruits and veg are good for.....example: Blueberries, high in fibre and good for their anti-inflammatory properties.
Kale....very high antioxidants, and boosts cardiovascular Heath.
If anyone wants to know what a certain fruit or veg is good for, I will see if it's in the book.

Won't orange juice make them a bit acidic?

Yes CLKD it does, and it upsets my tummy, but other people might like it.

Just had a bit of a disasterous recipe:
spinach
grapes
apple
cucumber
It went down the sink!

My bestest one so far:
spinach
pineapple
strawberries
raspberries
blueberries
coconut water

That sounds nice.

I would basically take in season fruits that you like and try them and ignore recipes.

Enjoy.

Bramble did you sweeten it at all, I tend to add banana to most recipes to sweeten it a bit, but of course not everyone like banana......
Today I had frozen Summer berries, a kiwi, an apple and half a banana.....delicious  :)
