Hi margaret
Sorry to hear about this but glad everything is being investigated. I presume you have been through menopause - if so how old were you and how old are you now, and have you taken HRT at all? If you are less than 10 years since menopause and under 60 it may yet be possible to help prevent further deterioration of your bones by starting HRT. I'm sorry I don't know much about this issue but I hope also that some treatement is possible so that you don't suffer too much more pain.
Re Vit D - well this will help if you are deficient but if you have a good diet, plenty of calcium rich food, sunshine and exercise you shouldn't be deficient at this time of year. Weight bearing exercise is good if not too painful - eg walking. Great re the yogao - I do Fitness Pilates which strengthens the core body too
There is a lot of information about oesteoporosis on this site:
http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/osteoporosis.phpThere are several sub menus (top menu) under "Health" "Osteo" ie diagnosis, treatments etc etc
There is also some info about HRT and osteo here:
http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/benefit.phpand diet and vitamin requirements here:
http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/diet.phpAlso the National Osteoporosis Society has lots of info as does NHS and patient.co.uk
Hope this helps.
