I don't know it but I'll make sure I find out about it 

This orchestra you'e playing with must be good, Poulenc ain't for the faint hearted.

Life  - 1st part of holiday is booked and we've been there before.  2nd camp site needs sorting.  Generally out of sorts

I have heard it before, as soon as the first chord was played I recognised it.
Just never knew what it was

Also - late in December I was 'part' of a very new Forum; for a few months but never felt quite accepted, I haven't been posting for 6/7 weeks and no one has contacted to see where I am ……… at least here I feel valued

Dulciana - I did try to sing (squawk) the Poulenc to OH earlier in the car.
He didn't recognise it, probably a good thing.
Played the youtube link, you posted and he recognised it instantly.
He agrees it's a good.

There's loads of time before the 12th December, you'll have loads of time to really get to know the piece.

............and lots, and lots!    Well done for having a go at singing it, Limpy! (Was that the opening bit??)  There are some great tunes in the piece, as it goes on.  And some opportunities for some absolutely delicious sounds.   Although it will be challenging, I'm really looking forward to putting it together with the orchestra.   It'll also be lovely to be back with them again, as I did Saint Saens 3rd with them four years ago, which was an amazing experience.   

(I wonder if this should move to the "musicians" thread, then we can carry on about it and similar things, there?)

I don't do singing, I've tried but I can't........

Perhaps this should move to the "musicians" thread.
Though there's a school of thought which would say Brass  players aren't musicians.......

Of course brass players are musicians!  Where would the likes of Tchaik. 5, Siegfried Idyll, Glagolitic Mass, Fanfare for the Common Man, Also Sprach Zarathustra etc. etc. be without them/you?

Strange to relate, but there are those who disapprove of us (brass players), as we hightail it to the pub as soon as possible after the rehearsal / concert.
