Hi, I'm also new to this site.
Been through the mill over last 8 years (I'm nearly 45) with horrendous migraines that have increased to one every 10 days, to the extent they're so debilitating I can't commit to anything. Had brain scans etc, showed nothing. Also take antidepressants as do suffer depression but now wonder if it's all a hormonal thing.
Have had night sweats for at least 5 years, thought it was side effect of antidepressants but blood test at GP revealed I was in menopause. Was actually relieved to have an answer to feeling appalling for so long.
GP prescribed Elleste Duet 2mg which after initial side effects I began to feel better. What was amazing was that for first time in 8 years I didn't get my horrendous migraines (still headaches but so much less) which confirmed to me that the migraines were hormonal even though they always came at random times, never linked with my menstrual cycle.
After 4 months on them, excruciating pain in my left side (from pelvic region to breast) started and is reminiscent of the pain I had 12 years ago which was eventually sorted through laparoscopy (turned out had stage 4 endo). After the surgery was told that I needed to have the menopause brought on artificially (at age 32), was told not to worry (by male gyno) and that would all be fine, not to worry about some facial hair etc. I was horrified and refused. He said it would come back again but I just got on with it and here I am 12 years later with what seems to be endo symptoms. Constant pain, not cyclical, just persistent which seems to go along with the increased oestrogen I've been taking. Visited Dr Annie Evans, who's been fantastic, changed me to 2mg Sandrena and 100mg Utrogestan. Within 5 days felt appalling, so tired and depressed and worst of all, migraine came back with avengence. She says I can't tolerate the progesterone part so I've just picked up my livial Tibolone 2.5mg. Really scared to take it as have read lots of negative comments.
Wow, sorry, I've really gone on alot. Just very confused and nervous to take it but also have read some positive feedback on this med. It's so comforting to read that I'm not alone.
