Worried about results tomorrow
« on: May 31, 2015, 03:12:06 PM »

As it's getting closer I'm starting to get worried about my results  :-\
What if they show they're not too high or too low?? I'm really hoping that they're out of whack and that's the reason for my current low mood and anxiety  :-\

Fingers crossed for me please  :)

Fingers crossed but we shouldn't blame menopause for all we suffer.  Your low mood may benefit from an AD ?

Estellle

Do not fret - they will show what they show and your symptoms are what they are. One blood test cannot show anything conclusively and will not necessarily explain your symptoms. Absolute blood levels of hormones are not a predictor of symptoms anyway - it is an individual thing. However if you do get a very very high or a very low result - then this would perhaps tell you something! The interplay of our many hormones and all the feedback mechanisms are so complex and we only replace two or three of them.

Here's hoping your mood lifts soon and meanwhile try to stay positive - the weather's getting warmer very soon!!

Estelle I hope you are not too worried about taking AD's.  I agree with others on here that sometimes they can be very useful.  I was put on Citalopram when diagnosed with fibromyalgia several years ago and they really helped.  The take some bashing with these hormones and sometimes I feel extremely low even with them.  But get the right ones and they can bring great relief.  Good luck x

Jazzcj no I'm not worried about taking AD's, I'm already on 2 (escitalopram and lamitrigine) have tried lots of different ones over the years  ::) although I'm thinking of maybe trying amitriptaline (don't think I've tried it)? as I've read it's also good for pain, I get lots of headaches, back and leg aches.

There's a thread somewhere on here discussing the use of Amitriptyline - might be worth a look........

Estelle know this. Even if your results are NORMAL they mean nothing and it does NOT mean you are 1) losing your mind 2) dying of something they can't diagnose.

Bloodwork is essentially useless in peri, unless they are altered which sounds weird I know. But the actual deal is, if your FSH is elevated there is a good chance you're menopausal, but if it's normal it tells you nothing. Sad but true. No reliable tests for perimenopause except POSSIBLY anti mullerian hormone and even that one gives you a pretty broad range of years :(

Thanks dogdoc, just that I had implants fitted 2 months ago (prior to that was on gels) and haven't really felt good since  :-\  from what I gather from here my testosterone one was quite high 200mg and estrogen was 50mg, just wondering if it's the cause ??
