Is it blood in my urine or am I spotting! Worried.com
« on: May 30, 2015, 10:55:22 PM »

For the last week I can't make out whether there is blood in my urine or I'm spotting.  My toilet paper just looks a bit darker, and my urine looks an orangey red. Feeling a cross between confused and worried.  I have a uretric stent due to a stricture which was caused by endometriosis.  I've had several stents and no visible blood in my urine.  Sorry if this is tmi  :) I'm guessing most people on here have experienced a whole heap of symptoms.  Would appreciate any comments/advice/suggestions pretty please.  After many tests recently I was told I have very low Vitamin D and have been on a fairly strong dose of Vit D tablets.  I may well be what they say bit I'm really sure I would benefit from hrt.  I have noticed my skin is getting thinner, but mostly I am in a lot of pain when I walk. Especially my shins and feet.  And then there's the spaced out feeling, detached and low. Oh the joys of being a woman!  Big hugs to anyone who'll accept one Janx

Sorry to hear about this, Jan. Just a thought, but could your urine colour be due to the tablets you are taking? It should warn you in the patient information leaflet if that is likely to happen. If it isn't that, I'd definitely see your GP for his opinion.

Hi and welcome to MM Jazzcj
I would definitely get to your GP to be checked out. It does sound as though you may have a UTI of some kind. Keep drinking lots of water in the mean time. Low Vitamin D can cause aching joints. You don't say how old you are or whether you are peri or post meno?  HRT might be helpful but I'd read up all the info on this site to get really clued up and get back to us with questions. DG x

Thank you ladies.  I'm 52 and perimenopausal.  I'll take a look at the meds and see what it says.  As already said I should drink lots of water.  Thanks for your suggestions as always xxx

UTI will give feelings of urgency and the need to pee all the while.  Blood in the urine can be caused by other infections or it may be spotting, how do you feel 'overall', like a period is due?

Any improvement today?

Hi CLKD well there was a bit more blood on toilet paper and seemingly in urine this afternoon.  Not all day and I am weeing more often and with some urgency at times.  I have the remains of endometriosis so know when I am due and I've thought I have been due with slight discomfort in areas I normally get it, particular where my stent is, where there is also endometriosis.  It just seems strange that I get it about once or twice a day then it goes away.  I even used a tampax last Tuesday but there was nothing on it.  It seems more like in my wee. I am worrying but hoping its to do with my uretric stent.  I'm my usual tired and achey self.  Nothing different there really.  Thanks for asking.  I really appreciate it.  I'm going to try to see my GP tomorrow  :)

Hello ladies, the GP sent off a sample, and gave me antibiotics.  He did an examination and hopes its a uti.   If the bleeding doesn't stop, he will need to refer me.  I have to go back next Tuesday to see how things are.

I have the exact same symptoms as bladder cancer, but it can be the same as for a uti seemingly.  If anyone has had a similar experience please let me know. Thanks again xxx

Hi jazzcj
I had blood in my urine but no sign of infection and I think this is quite common when we are menopausal. I was sent for a cystoscopy and ,again, this was routine and was told I may have some interstitial cystitis and that local oestrogen might help. You have clearly had issues around your whole urinary system so may be more prone to UTIs etc. There is now a school of thought that the frequent use of short term antibiotics is actually making the situation worse as our bodies build up resistance to this AB. I wouldn't worry at this stage but it's good to get things checked for peace of mind.   You may benefit from using some Vagifem regularly so it would be worth asking about this.  There are  number of threads on this site about bladder problems so it's worth reading through some of them - you will be amazed how many women have ongoing problems.  I started a thread called 'The Burning club' as I often have a burning urethra which is very unpleasant.
