I've been colouring my own hair for a few years and whilst I don't do the best job it's much cheaper than the hairdressers, however in March I decided to try going to a salon and get colour plus treatments, and everybody absolutely hated the results!! Husband was horrified, whilst people who aren't even close to me commented on how dark / flat my hair looked  :o  So it's back to DIY.

Which colour will it be next?

The newer style dyes are not messy at all. Some are even a mousse.

I rarely even bother with a towel. Just an old T shirt does the job.

Were you doing yours with the lights off CLKD  ;D

Oh mousse now that's something that sounds easier - colour choice anyone?

Natural blonde for me, I have used this for many years and generally colour my hair every  5 weeks. Easy,  only takes an hour from start to drying and only costs £6.99.  Sometimes on offer at 2 for £11. :)

I tried a mousse which could be re-used, but it was really runny and caused an awful mess. Colour-wise I'm trialling shades of brown although do wonder about going lighter as it may blend better with the white / gray?!?

I'm using shampoo which is supposed to lighten hair by two shades. Not happening yet.  :)

Apparently Nicky Clarke - the hair dresser who years ago told the public that a 'lady should leave my Salon without looking as though she had just paid for a hair cut' (or similar words).   :-\ - if I pay those kinds of prices then I want everyone to know I've been to the hairdressers  ;D

Apparently he has now stated that 'only old people should go grey' ………  :beat: …….. if I were him  :-X

You know, this is the first time I have noticed this thread and my instant thought was 'Ooh, I got life!' and I'm now going to be singing 'Good Morning Starshine' for a week :D

Also, top up on the hair dye tomorrow. Grey hair makes me look far too old ;)
