I am going back to the hairdressers to get mine coloured.
My hair dresser will do strands, like highlights, but in 3 different colours. Usually, we use a dark brown, like my natural colour, a light colour that will blend in the grey, and a mid tone (usually a golden shade). It is massively expensive (she is very good and expensive with it but I have trouble finding someone who can cut my curly hair).
The advantages are that it blends in the greys, rather than covers them, so regrowth is less obvious. When you get it redone, you do not end up with the blond ends and brown tops from multiple highlights (this is why I had it done originally - another hairdresser did the original highlights).
I went off it when the hairdresser retired for a while to have children and the replacement did not do as good a job. I tried home dying, but it turned my hair to straw. I grew it all out (took a while as it is long) to see if I was a glamorous grey like you see in magazines, but now look as if I have stuck the front of my head it talcum powder, so am going for the expensive option again
