Last hurdle nearly overcome?
« on: May 14, 2015, 08:42:33 PM »

Sooo during the last 6 years have suffered terrible anxiety and panic attacks to the point where I was virtually housebound with extreme vertigo!!

I've now been on hrt for a year and a half, had cbt and hypnosis, survived short-term crises with ativan but have overcome all my anxiety and panic except for driving!! I had some sever dizzy spells while driving so basically gave it up (except for very short trips) for 5 years! I've now moved to Ontario to a place where I need to drive, and am happy to report that I've got my own car and am driving everywhere again' I still have some anxiety around it, but force myself to do it and sing loudly in the car to distract myself! This was my last big hurdle and I'm so happy that it's something I can now do ....

I know we are all at different stages of our journey, so I hope this helps somebody who is still at an early stage. My life is almost back to where it was pre-menopause and I am sooooo grateful.  :spin: :spin: :spin:

So glad to hear this....I can only do short journeys and have to avoid busy roads.  Well done you, it gives the rest of us hope.

Well done

Any hurdle we overcome feels like climbing and surviving the biggest mountain ever

What seems trivial to one person can be making someone else's  a nightmare

You must feel great :-)

Well done. I can only drive short journeys these days. Seldom drive at night either, scares me.

Strange how things we never batted an eyelid at years ago, scare us half to death now. In fact my hubby finds driving much harder these days also & he is a very good driver.

I don't like night driving, I have glasses to help with glare but my vision is the dark is getting worse

Great post Suzy.  At the moment, for me, it is great to hear a success story.  I am about to start CBT for health anxiety centring on my shitty gums, so glad to hear it has worked for someone!

Enjoy the new you!

Wow Suzyq - glad you're feeling so much better and positive. I don't think I've ever quite got the energy back like the bouncing figures in your post (well maybe when I first went onto HRT in late peri before my oestrogen had really dropped!) - that must be amazing!!!!
