Hi ladies, does anyone know whether waking in the early hours to empty bladder is part of perimeno please?
It's started happening to me which isn't helping with my already poor sleep patterns.
Thanks for reading xxx

Yes it can be,low estrogen can cause laxity of muscles in the vaginal walls so bladders can drop slightly and the need to go more frequently is common. Its generally called vaginal atrophy, dryness, soreness even prolapse in extreme cases ,great fun this meno rubbish
If you are concerned you could visit gp and discuss vagifem which is a local estrogen cream to help things tightn and keep it from progressing .Lots of ladies on here use it sure they can tell you more or searcg it in the top right hand search box.

Hi Dazned, thanks for replying. I'm waiting for my appointment at gynae. I've had some dryness, itching and generally sore in the vaginal area but my GP said no way it's atrophy. Atrophy only happens post menopause so no vagifem
Now with this waking early hours to empty my bladder I'm beginning to think that it could well be atrophy xxx

they are truly rubbish at meno related things on the whole !
Ask your specialist he will be able to check and put your mind at rest one way or other.

If you are interested Dr annie evans gives a good talk on you tube there are 4 parts of talk on there and she explains VA in one of them but the whole thing is very informative. I put one link on the topic called muffin top.

Yes, I have noticed that even though my bladder feels full, when I go to wee there's not that much.
Also poor quality sleep is a typical peri menopause symptom. I used to be able to sleep for England. Got the shock of my life when I started suffering with insomnia.

Oh it's awful isn't it? I can either drop off straight away only to wake several hours later or be really tired at bedtime only to find I'm tossing and turning for hours. And now with this needing the loo, I'm all over the bloomin place xxx

Ugh, that whole getting up to go to the loo during the night is such a pain, It started for me to last year, my doc was no help whatsoever, I now have my last drink at 4pm, I'm like a giant baby.
