Progesterone worry
« on: April 28, 2015, 05:01:45 PM »

I've been on Evorel25 for 2-3 weeks now because my GP gave me the wrong HRT.  I now have the Evorelconti that she should have given me.

I'm feeling so much better on the oestrogen only patches but tonight I am going to put my first combined HRT patch on and, after reading so much about it's negative effects on here, already I am worried about the effect that the progesterone may have.  I don't want to go backwards again.  Can anybody reassure me?  If I react badly to this medication is there another way to take the progesterone - I've read that some people take it separately and not for the whole time.  Is that the way to go if this goes badly for me?

I know I'm being anxious about something that hasn't yet happened but that's me  :-\ :-\ :-\

Please try not to worry you haven't even tried it yet !  :-\ alot of people are fine with it !
Unfortunately you only hear of the bad experience not the thousands who are fine ,most dont post about about good things in most areas. We are not all the same and chances are you will be fine with it. Hrt takes time to settle 3 months is the normal time to allow it to work Im like you want it sorted yesterday ! However it dont work like that.
Yes you can get a separate prog.but give what you have a chance if you fret about it you will make it worse ,easier said than done I know. But think of all the women on hrt not on this forum because they are fine with it. I too sometimes forget we are on here because we are struggling but we are the minority not the majority I suspect. Hope you get settled soon .

That's very sensible advice Dazned.  It puts things in perspective. It does sometimes feel as if the meno is a huge unsolveable problem; I should be more positive  :)
