Back on HRT
« on: April 27, 2015, 11:34:10 AM »

I was on HRT for 7 years but last October had a few gynae probs (which thankfully turned out to be small benign polyp) and was was advised to come off HRT or try a Mirena coil. I didn't really fancy that having heard mixed reports. Anyway, I've tried to manage the past 6 months through the hot flushes, anxiety attacks during the night and generally feeling yucky and after a lot of consideration have gone back on the lowest dose of Femiston Conti 0.5/2.5 to see if it takes the edge off things. I was previously on Femiston Conti 1/10 which caused bleeding so was put on Tibolone which also caused bleeding hence the investigations/hysteroscopy  which was rushed through as an urgent case. The gynae (female) who I saw at the time was very unsympathetic and proceeded to give me a lecture about the risks involved by being on it for so long. I am fully aware of those and at the moment am prepared to take the risks for quality of life. My GP (male) is fantastic and is all for HRT as long as I am having my blood pressure checked regularly etc.
I'd like to stay on the lowest dose possible even if I still have mild symptoms. Obviously I wish that I didn't have to restart taking HRT but such is life! Oddly enough I can go for days without any symptoms at all and think that's it but then lo and behold they start again - a bit of a weird pattern.
Interested to hear from people in a similar position and how they're getting on second or third time around on HRT.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
