Cold Turkey
« on: March 17, 2015, 09:38:05 AM »

Hi - I've just been diagnosed as having a thickened lining (10mm) and I'm not going to see the Gyno until late April.  I'm 57, taking Tridestra and was due to start the new pack last Saturday.  Since I had already just had my final 7 placebo days on it I decided to carry on, going Cold Turkey essentially and see what happens.    The Drs were fine for me to continue taking oestrogen while waiting for the appt with the Gyno, but should there be anything wrong it seems mad to feed it in the 5 weeks I still have to wait.

The question is how have any of you managed with going Cold Turkey?  So far I feel fine (Day 10 so far), with night sweats and the occasional day flush.  My energy levels are good, but I'm much slimmer & fitter (I run 3 times a week) than I was before I went on all the hrt, so hoping it will make a difference.

And is there anything I can take to help with my own oestrogen production?  I have no fat on me, so it's not like I can store it anywhere.

:welcomemm: …….. oestrogen is the normal 'dropping' off' effect at peri-menopause.  Are you still having periods?  I'm sure someone will be along today, there are several threads about this too.

Not clear on how / when you got diagnosed with thickening.
But given that your on tridestra then thickening would be going on within the 2 and half months of estrogen you take.

Did they measure your thickening right after your last period finished?

I was also going to ask "how are your periods" on Tridestra (heavier, longer etc).
I'd have thought saving up for a period every 3 months might make your period worse?

Interested to know how you've been getting on.

Perhaps if your not getting much of a period then thats why you've a bit more of a build up.

Have the doc's given you the option of going back to a monthly or swapping over to the Conti options?

Hi MadMargaret

 :welcomemm:

As peegeetip - I am confused?

Exactly when in the 3 month's cycle was the measurement taken? If it was immediately following your bleed, then yes this would be regarded as too thick, but if towards the end of the 3 months then only to be expected. Somewhere I read by how much the thickness would vary during a normal monthly cycle - but can't lay my hands on this now - but it is quite considerable.

Unless it was just after a bleed then no reason why you should stop HRT? What was your period like during the placebo week?
