Hello

Well ive been peaceful and I guess things are better in some ways, ive been off hrt for months now, the night sweats are back and I get the odd flush in the day, currently taking sage tablets which help a little, I sometimes wake up with nausea too or get in during the day.

Had my hear tested but still get very tight chest a lot, the cardiologist seems to think its muscular, I worry about lots of thing aches, pains, thinking its something more, I don't know if this will ever go away, I worry if my cat is out longer than normal I can feel my chest tighten and the relief I feel when she comes in you would not believe, but I talk to myself saying she will be back calm down and spray bachs recuse on my tongue and breath deeply, thing is with anxiety I don't know if anybody else is the same but you wake up every day and think how am I going to be today, do I feel anxious already and if so why, Ive just woken up!

On the subject of anxiety for months now I have a fear of getting food stuck in my throat, I did actually have a problem swallowing a cashew nut one day and it scared me, I now chew my food as small as I can and try not to rush it, but still think I can feel something stuck and rush and grab a drink of milk to try and wash it down (ive heard this or bread can help), It sounds silly, is it only me get this?

Ive had lots of great advice on here since I joined this site is a god send, Ive been to see a counceller via gp who spoke to me about cbt but I haven't been on the site much, but have tried to improve my exercise anxiety but doing little walks and recording it, unforutunatley its raining a lot at the moment so this has been put on hold, yoga and tai chi has been suggested and I keep promising to try it but must confess haven't as its been winter and you get in from work and shut the door and put the heating on, that my excuse but spring is coming time to take positive steps.

Also still getting the fainty feelings, Im sure its anxiety related and it happens before food, and I try snacking I really do, Its a weird feeling, am I alone with this?

Look forward to receiving your comments

Apart from your flushes everything seem to be anxiety to be honest.

Have you tried anything like St Johns Wort, or increasing your B vitamins.  Has your GP suggested ADs.

The swallowing, lump in the throat symptom is very much anxiety based.

It's very hard but there are self help books and websites that can help. No More Panic website is very good as is The Glasgow Steps site. Dr Clair Weekes has some great books. There are relaxation apps. So many things that can help you.
It's just a case of finding what suits you.

Hi Karenja , i really feel for you as i have been through the same thing , i was on this forum  , it must be well over a year  when i was going through Anxiety , i had a very lot of trips to my Doctors , it started with really bad palpitations and i ended up in hospital with them , i was still not getting anywhere with my Doctors , so my lovely husband paid for me to go private and see a cardiology , i had lots of tests on my heart , as i was getting the same as you pains in my chest and down my arm , it was a nightmare , but luckily the test came back all clear , so i was put on Beta Blockers , which stopped the pains.

After i started on the Beta Blockers , the dreaded Anxiety came on , i felt faint all the time , dizzy , hot and cold sweats , in the end i did not want to go out , but still my doctor did not pick up on it , in the end she finally put me on Ads Sertraline , and they took a couple of months before they finally worked , i was on them for about a year , and i have been off them for about 8 months.

In the last 3 weeks i have started to have all those terrible feelings come back again , but silly me cut my Beta Blockers in half , this was about 6 months ago , and everything was good on half a dose , i went to doctors because i was feeling dizzy and faint again , so he took my blood pressure and my pulse rate was 90 beats a minute , pains in my arms and chest , so told doctor what i had done , so gone back to my normal dosage , ( which i am only on a low dose 2.5 mg ) .

Unfortunately all those horrible feelings have come back again , all the pains in chest , getting up on a morning thinking have i got Anxiety , then its on your mind all day , so back at my Doctors on Monday morning to see if i can go back on Ads , it is such a horrendous feeling , you can not quite explain to people how you feel , its nice to know we can talk to people on this forum who know exactly how we are feeling .

Please do not be afraid to go on Ads , because they do help , i hate going on medications , and I did not want to go on them but they did really help me , the Doctor did say that Beta Blockers do help with Anxiety , but they did nothing for my Anxiety , but helped with the pains in chest .

I hope I have put your mind at ease , I really know what you are going through , and i feel for you , remember you will get sorted , please go to the Doctors .

Hi Sandy, thanks for your reply, I have been back and fore the doctors for about a year, since I started peri and anxiety came with avengence, Ive been on and off different hrt, tried citalopram which made me worst (I understand they can make you worst before better), but it scared me, I have a prescription for calcium based beta blockers Adizem, but I haven't picked them up yet, the cardiologist said these would slow my heart down so help palpatations, but something that slows your heart is quite scary.

Im glad Im not alone in all this its horrible x

Hi I so know how you feel. Have been having fears of ill health for the past couple of months now. I have l lots of different aches and pains and constantly been trailing through the internet trying to self diagnose. This has all just happened since my flushes and mood swings have kicked in. I am 54 and not had a period since last October.
Wondered about ST Johns Wort. hear a lot of good reports. I am currently taking Promensil ( red clover) which I find has really helped with the flushes. Not sure if this is OK with the ST Johns Wort. I believe I can interact with a lot of meds.
Thinking of you and good to know we are not alone or going insane

Hi Susan14 if your unsure about the interactions check with pharmacists, they are very knowledgeable and you are right some these herbal remedies are good but can interact so better safe than make symptoms possibly worse.

Hi Susan thank you for your reply yes I self diagnose a lot too and its lethal as it brings up all sorts, Im 54 too and had my last natural period December 2014, did have a bleed in June I think last year when I came off hrt too early.

I think I have red clover, tried everything I think, the thing is with my I get anxious about taking even herbal things especially mixing them as my doctor took me off a lot of herbal things I was taking saying it could be quite dangerous to mix them so worth checking just to be safe.

Havent tried St Johns wort, am currently taking sage tablets for the flushes seem to be helping a bit, the night sweats are still there but bit better x

I remember watching some program on telly about a man who could not swallow after having food lodged in his throat 20yrs ago. He could not eat solid food, but after CBT he started eating it again for first time in 20 years.
I wake up some mornings with that doomed feeling also. HRT has helped a lot.

I had a very stressful 3 months with repeat mammograms and invasive tests and finally surgery in January, which was clear. I was coping so well and was fine on surgery day. I woke up a different person, very shaky anxious and worrying about every ache or pain. I was then diagnosed with very low vitamin D and put on a massive, 40000 units a week. Straight off I was in a such a state shaking, tingling, cold feet, pins and needles, hypos. I really thought I'd gone mad or dying. I blamed myself, assumed it was my anxiety. Basically I did that for the last 4 weeks, after 3 realised the weekly pill was doing it, but in that time my anxiety has peeked, I could not leave the house or drive. I feel sure my hormones gate crashed the party too. Last week I decided no more mega pill and got a blood test, my level is now a whopping 97. I knew the pill was too much. I am still weak, shaky, have needed to go back on beta blockers, I am emerging just, after 4 weeks of hell. Even writing this fills me with fear. Mega doses should have a health warning.

It's good that your levels are now in the normal range and you can stop the supplement Sarai. Remember though to try to keep them in the right range by sun exposure or dietary means. The high level you were taking is not recommended for longer than eight weeks so hopefully your doc did prescribe it as a short term thing? There is info here about the different effects of vit d levels on your health https://www.vitamindcouncil.org/further-topics/i-tested-my-vitamin-d-level-what-do-my-results-mean/#

Its odd this last week Ive had the anxiety back even with my Lexoton 6mg so this am I took a 1/4 Beta
1 hour later Im sitting here the fears 90% gone! Im supposed to take a whole one BUT if I do I feel weird?
OH and it is sometimes normal with underlying anxiety to wake up after GA in a state of Anxiety
In the olden days 50/60/70/80/90s Theyd give you PRE MEDS youd be virtually uncon going to theatre
Now most go down wide awake some arent scared some hide the fear and some are scared witless
With my MUM the Anesthetic man in the 70s refused to put her under as she was in such a state of terror
I feel for you the fear can be all encompassing big hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
