norethisterone update !
« on: March 07, 2015, 04:20:22 PM »

Just to let anyone who is interested the outcome of me taking this to induce a bleed incase you might have to do similar at some point ,started a bleed yesterday ,day 5 after stopping taking tablets, well if that is what you can call it! Very light, hardly anything to speak of ,don't know if this is normal or what is to be expected at my age ,55, does this mean the linning wasn't very thick to start with,or something not right ,I don't know  :-\

Any thoughts ladies in the know  ;)

Hi dazned

I can't remember how much oestrogen you had - but since norethisterone is a very powerful progestogen, provided you absorbed it well, it should induce a proper bleed if there is lining to be shed. I think I mentioned that my GP said I should take it once a year - in her words - "to strip the lining" as I use HRT on a long cycle. I did this last summer. I can't remember my dose - I think it was 1 x 5 mg tablet per day for about 12 days? I did have a decent bleed a few days after stopping. I do have a small fibroid and it might have grown in the last 18 months though...

If you are worried mention to your doc?

Thanks ,I think there couldn't have been much of a build up ,only on 1mg estrogen, and next time he's suggesting a tricyclic regime ! 2 and half months estrogen only then progesterone vaginally for last part .
