Anxiety Mid Cycle
« on: March 04, 2015, 06:29:51 PM »

Has anyone noticed their anxiety increases mid cycle.  I have only noticed it the last two months.  Anyone know why?

My anxiety was all the time before HRT, it has not gone completely but I am only 6 weeks in.

I think so - mine seems to be much better recently, but peaks just after (I think) ovulation and again before my period.
I've had one such day today - felt "off" pretty much all day...just not right.

Mine started doing that about 6 months ago. Mid cycle I noticed I was getting irritated mid cycle which lasted a day or so and at the time I thought I was going to have an early period as it felt like pmt. x

I noticed my stress level went from predictable (always just before period) to almost random (often mid cycle or post period). In hindsight, I think it was fluctuations that made it worse rather than continuous low levels, if that makes sense?

Been on Qlaira for three weeks now and the difference that constantly higher levels of hormones has made to my mental state (and energy levels) - compared with when I was previously on a lower dose HRT -  is quite noticeable x

There are some women who get a dip in their estrogen level mid cycle. I am definitely one of them.. I can tell when I'm ovulating ( or at least trying too) as I get 3-4 days of an upswing in my symptoms ( headache, palpitations, panic, flashes or whatever the symptom 'du jour' is), then am 'better' again until the week or so leading up to me period.
It's like a little dip in the estrogen peak...estrogen goes back up again briefly after ovulation in these women which is why you might feel better again for a few days before the estrogen drops of rapidly until period.

Good times...a double dose

If you google "menstrual cycle oestrogen" and look at images - you will see the different ways the graph of oestrogen levels are represented throughout the menstrual cycle.

Wikipedia is probably one of the clearest (scroll down to diagram on right)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estrogen

You will see there is quite a dramatic fall after the pre-ovulatory peak levels as you say dogdoc - although women do vary this will happen with every woman and surprising that more women don't suffer as a result!

Maybe with peri-menopause for some women the mid cycle crash becomes more pronounced?

How does the anxiety manifest itself?
