Can't take hrt
« on: February 24, 2015, 05:28:45 PM »

Does anyone else have trouble with hrt, I have tried numerous ones and my body does not like them, I get angry and worse on them than off, trouble now is what do I do.
I am having the worst time of my life, thoughts of suicide, sobbing all day sweating all night flushes daily, allergys palpatations anxiety panic attacks tingling all over body, loss of libido, just a few to mention.
My gp has put me on sertraline 100mg which I think is causing excessive sweating at certain parts of the month, I take levothyroxine 75 mg.
Has anyone had any joy with vitamins or alternative medicine, would love to hear your story's. 😀

Hello Scampi18.

So sorry that you are having a tough time. I am actually on HRT so can't really advise you but I think a few ladies here take sertraline and hopefully they'll be along soon.

There is a wealth of experience on this site and I'm sure you'll get the help you need.

Take care and keep posting.

I cant have HRT and have been where you are now, just coming out of my 2nd bout. Had the tremors, body rigid, into a and e middle of the night. I had 2 days of sertraline and I could not tolerate it as it made me worse. Diazipan works for me and propranolol which is a beta blocker. I also advise a pharmaceutical grade fish oil which contains 1000 epa 500 dha, vit c 500 mg and porridge every morning. lots of water each day, eat every 3 hrs at least, socialise with happy people, exercise 3 times a week and do not sit and dwell instead get up and do something, wash up, shake a mat or phone a happy understanding friend and within 4 weeks it should be much more manageable. That's my story because I have no alternative. Keep posting it really helps xx

Thank you for replying.

I was advised to preserver with the sertraline from a friend,  it has helped with a lot of the symptoms, it's the night sweats drenched.
Just before Xmas I too was rushed into hospital with terrible pains in my pelvis and stomach, I had recently had the mirena coil fitted, again my body did not like it, within the space of 3 days I was so ill had it removed my body went into toxic shock I thought I was going to die.
The hospital were useless gave me stemital injection and sent me home, I was in so much pain, back again the next week morphine and sent home, xmas came and went and I slept through it all in between the spasms, my gp had to be called one day I was in such a state admitted to EAU and assessed morphine again sent home had a colonoscopy ct scan throat scan nothing yet apart from fibroids five of them.  Oh and labrinthytus.
My thyroid levels are being checked again because I keep going from hyper to hypo, but that could be meno as well.
God I wish it would get better four years on and off.  I take my three dogs out most days, so the agoraphobia is getting a bit better, will wait and see what else develops.  😀

Sorry to read this, my heart goes out to you. I recently hada cold and went down with labs, vertigo with sickness after taking anti vertigo tablets, left me bed bound for a week, I then went to pieces. My sister in law takes sertraline and it works for her but sadly for me it made me more agitated. My agitation is what scares me, makes me fightened of everything and I just want to be sedated. Valium works for me but I was so agitated 2 weeks ago I was too scared to take it very much, this probably done me more harm than good to be honest. I have had these symptoms 3 times in my life and each one can be attributed to hormones. I do have added stress at home at the moment which has added to things and since I hit peri meno I don't seem to be able to handle any more stress than I already have in my life. I spent 2 years seeing neurologists, having mri, being diagnosed with menieres, migraine associated vertigo and what I had was bppv and once treated all my dizzys disappeared. My daily dizzys always play up in the early part of the year so I think they are related to SAD and being a tad down = ANXIETY. I also have a head tremor that started 3 years ago, I will have this for life and accept it. Taking the dogs out is not enough, you need to walk and fairly fast, non stop for at least 20 mins 3 times a week, it will help lower your anxiety which in turn may help your other problems. When we are anxious our thoughts turn inwards, we stop feeling outwardly and our brain starts to panic that something is wrong, its a viscious circle. You have had a tough tough time especially with the coil situation, awful. My body expelled the coil when I was 20 so I refused one when it was offered again. I have started CBT last night and am feeling so much more optimistic than last week (do read my posts) The adrenaline surges are the vilest thing I have felt. What I will say is that I have had a fairly good 2 years after having my 1st meltdown in 2012 and its only the last 3 weeks the hell has started up again xx
