Hi Kerrieann,

I too only use warm water and a flannel, and have done for years.  As for moisturizing I only use clinique as it's the only one that does not irritate my skin.  Its expensive but they give you so many freebies every now and then I just use them up.

Warm water, a clean flannel daily, soft warmed towel to wipe with.  I haven't used facial products for over 30 years other than a very good sun-tan lotion from mid-Feb. [thought I didn't use any last year  ::)] and occasionally a cream with a tanning product in mainly for legs  …….. a good hand cream on a regular basis as I spend a lot of time in gardening gloves at this time of year.  Feet have a good soak in hot water and I bath every night ……..

The skin on the face should feel tight and fresh after washing correctly and it is advised that the flannel is pushed gently from chin upwards - supposed to keep the muscles toned  ::)

Warm water and a flannel wouldn't get rid of my make-up though.

;D what's make-up ……….. the thought of mascara clogging up my eye-lashes and foundation pulling my face leaves me cold these days  ::)

Clearasil liquide on a cotton wool pad?  The make-up base should moistoriese [sp] anyway.

Oh I love nice skin treatments.

One of the best cleansers is Liz Earle hot cloth cleanse and polish......it's a little bit pricey so after a little research I discovered a great equivalent. It's Superdrugs own make.
You get a lovely muslin cloth which gently exfoliates your skin and leaves it feeling very soft. I generally use that and then tone with Boots No 7.

I generally use Garnier night cream and day cream.

I really think that it benefits your skin to really look after it.

I also love my makeup. I don't wear a lot but the things I have are really good quality because they last much longer so in the long run don't cost that much more. Make up is Clinique every time.
If my skin looks as good as I can get it then I feel better about myself. I have very few wrinkles and perhaps that is genes but it's also helped by good skin care.

My paternal Grandma - Victorian and 'in service' - swore by hot soap and water, can't remember which soap - and Cuticura ointment to smooth away wrinkles - her skin was really really soft - 4711 anyone, that was her statement perfume  ;)

I use Nivea face cleansing wipes for removing my make-up and warm water with flannel in the shower each morning.

Always wear light make-up but love it when I can be free of it all (when I know I won't be seen ;D

I have had terrible problems with my skin in the last year, before that I just used basic cleanser and moisturiser and never a problem with dryness or irritation.  I have had redness, burning, greasy then dry - just uncomfortable. The products I use don't contain synthetic materials, so should be gentle on the skin, it was and is my hormones.

Kerrieann - if it's irritating you, I think you should stop.  It might be the products but in my experience it has been the hormones!

I used a natural olive soap and basic moisturiser when my skin was unhappy.  If you put moisturiser on straight after washing, I think it traps moisture better.

i have tried lots of products over the last 12 months, but still  feel as if my skin cant breath is that just me ?  when i come out of the shower my skin does feel a bit tight but i quite like it as it feels clean then when i start adding moisturizers it feels almost greasy and sort of mucky  ;D  honeybun i tried the liz earle hot cloth way then someone told me i was better with an old fashioned cold cream which removes everything and a warm face cloth and i have to say that was the only one that left my skin feeling not clogged up   i suppose everyones skin is different and changes at our age, i know i have 1 little dry patch on my cheek and it drives me daft i cant  get rid of it  i have tried exfoliating wipes etc and a little bit of e45 but it still there  :(  as i say what suits i may not suit all   kerrie

I recognise your description 'skin can't breathe' and feels 'greasy and mucky' - I have this sensation as well, it never feels clean for longer than a few minutes.   I can't find a solution either :(

yes i think splashing with water makes it feel clean again but not practical if you wear much make up i only wear mascara and a very light tinted moisturizer which can be reapplied easy enough  kerrie

Stop the moisturiser, give your skin time to recover? you may have developed sensitivity to the product: your skin unless 'dry' will be fine!  If it's windy then applying a good sun-tan protection will suffice or some Nivea lightly before going into the air.

Tightness is good ……. itchy/tight is not!

I couldn't go to work without make-up CLKD, I would give everyone a fright.  :)
I do like beauty products and make-up.   Just treated myself to some an Urban Decay eye palette.
