todays specialist appointment
« on: February 20, 2015, 02:55:29 PM »

Just to tell anyone who might be interested how todays appointment went .

Background went originally to have my hrt tweaked after doing fine on 1mg Estelle duet for 4 years this in sept 14 . He put me on one month 1 mg estrogen only then one month 2 mg estrogen only to monitor that ( the same estrogen as in Estelle)
He then suggested femoston conti 1/5 as Iam now 55 . Started taking end of December ,ok until about day 25 then felt a bit iicky but not bad ,then it went away , second month no problems until day 25 when all he'll broke loose, terrible nausea which was like horrendous constant morning sickness ,zero energy or interest in anything ,anxiety, and crying at anything, day four of those symptoms then had a banging headache for a day as well ,really thought I was dying ! then by day six it all started to abate . Yesterday felt " normal" .

He was a bit baffled but he says we need to start again with what he calls a spring clean !  ;D

Keep taking femoston with 14 nortiston ( not sure spelling ! ) to induce a bleed ,which I should done away but didn't want to throw something else in the mix !  Then when I have had the " clean " go back and he suggested a tricyclic regime
Back to 1 month 1 mg estrogen only, then 2 mg ,then 3 rd month estrogen with uverston is it ,a natural progesterone cream,at the end . It seems I do ok on estrogen but not the progesterone at the end ! As he says though obviously I have to have it to protect me, as a hysto is a bit extreme !

Gosh we all have to be like human guinea pigs ! So that's like another 4 months away before the end of that trial !  :-\

Now Iam really questioning is it hormonal at all !!! Or something awful, although I have no idea what .

Any input greatly appreciated as always ,thanks xx

:thankyou:  for the update and yep, we are interested.  A 'good clean out' sounds the way to go! …….. to allow any hormones of your own that are racing around to stabilise a bit.  It does seem a long while, getting medication 'right' - I was the same on ADs, took about 18 months …. but if the Doctor is supportive it makes it much better.

If the Specialist thought this was anything other than hormonal tests would be suggested  ;) which is why it can be useful to keep a food/mood diary  ;)

Thanks for the update - sounds a bit complicated and I don't recognise all the products - are you in UK? Was it a menopause clinic?

Anyway hope it works for you  :)

Thanks Hurdity

Yes in the UK, was a specialist gynecologist who specializes in menopause, had to go private as doctor doesn't want to know. The " cleanser " now I've looked it up is norethisterone to shed any built up lining. Can't remember the progesterone cream he said about introducing but he said it was a natural cream to be used vaginally, sounded like he said uverston !? He also said he would do internal scan to the lining thickness after my enforced bleed then we start from scratch. Think if that doesn't work I might just stop hrt and see what happens,I give up :-*

If you put Utrogestan into the search box in the blue bar top left of the screen it will bring up any posts made about it. There have been lots so it may be helpful to you.

Don't be in a hurry to stop medication unless you feel ill.  Let the medication do the work  ;) - you seem to have found a good Gynae!
