wheres the bleed?
« on: February 10, 2015, 10:15:56 AM »

Hello ladies
I'm starting to worry as for the past couple of years my periods are have become lighter and lighter to the point they are nowhere to be seen.  I have been on evorel sequi transdrmal patches for a number of years which i believe should give you a monthly bleed and use to do but not anymore. Anyone else had this happen? Please advise.

Thank you

Maybe your own hormones have receded enough to stop the over-all bleed?  Have a word with the Pharmacist at your Chemist, they have private rooms now.

Hi clio

As the others have said - this is quite normal - a small proportion of women never get a bleed on sequential HRT. In the latter years of monthly sequential HRT I didn't get one either - I was about 57 and obviously well post-menopause. The lining just didn't build up enough in two weeks.

Norethisterone is a very powerful progestogen (found in Evorel sequi) so in your case it is just doing a good job. How old are you and do you feel well throughout the cycle or are there parts of it where you don't feel so good? Going by the lack of bleeding, it sounds like you are post-menopausal now.

If you were building up too much lining then you would be having irregular bleeding as the lining thickened - and that is what you need to be concerned about, not lack of bleeding. You can mention it at your next review - in fact I am surprised your doc hasn't asked before eg do you have a 6 monthly review where doc goes through it with you and where you can raise any concerns? If not they should do!!!

Don't worry anyway!

This is normal I think.  I read the package disclosure for the sequi patches and they indiacte the lack of bleeding happens over time and use.  So hopefully that is your situation and it sounds normal.

I don't really have a review, dr  just said she was happy for me to stay on it till normal meno age. I've been on hrt since I was 39, I'm 48 this year. I feel OK I was just concerned the bleeding had stopped!
