Sharon I agree with Hurdity and DG. Between the 2 of them they have great advise on HRT, I always love reading their posts getting tips. Thank you ladies.I'm on Femoston 1/10 moving to 2/10, and it really is good. A few months into it my energy levels picked right up, before I spent most days just about functioning, had to sleep in afternoons but now I go all day and it's winter which is unusual for me! X

Hi CLKD, no I don't think I do get very good quality sleep, and I have had nightmares/night terrors all my life! Obviously not every night, but I do have a recurring dream where I am trying to get the simplest of things done and never manage because of things going wrong all the time....that dream us exhausting! 😳

Hi Sharon
Im the same as you. 36 and found out last year was peri meno after 2 definite meno hormone tests and 1-2 years of feeling crap. I haven't made my mind up on hrt yet (family cancers, side effect worries and what not) but will do so in a few weeks once Ive got a few other med tests out the way. Leaning towards it i guess but keep changing my mind. Im tired, achy and sleepy all the time. Have 2 young kids and an exercise mad hubby so i feel like the right old knackered one of the pack haha And didn't think i be feeling like this for a good 20 years yet tut tut!

Hi Sharon - not the news you were expecting, bit of a surprise.

I am older than you at 44 and had a blood test saying menopause a couple of weeks ago.  They will re-test in a couple of weeks.  I too have been learning about HRT and my choices in this regard and as others have said it's important that your doctor gives you the time to talk this all through, along with your concerns and the benefits to you from replacing the hormones that have taken off early :)

Tiredness for me seems to have improved since I started taking vitamin B12 and B6 as well as magnesium - maybe you could give that a try.

Worth getting your B12 tested before supplementing. Convinced this was my problem, I self diagnosed and ended up almost over dosing. When tested, my levels were ridiculously high. Ditto my iron. The doctor was amazed I was a life long vege when she saw my readings! Like many of you, at 42, neither my doc nor I associated the problems I had with an early menopause. Weirdly, it was a neurologist who eventually made a connection. That suggests to me that the aches, pains, tingling, dizziness and numbness many of us had are more common meno symptoms than those who think it's mainly hot flushes and anxiety? X

I recently had a B12 test, but it was after a few weeks of supplementing and it came back high
However, I have Crohn's and have been told a high reading doesn't actually show what you're absorbing, only what's present. I would need an active B12 test for that.
I did ask my nurse whether I should stop supplements but didn't get a reply. As I understand it, vitamin B is water soluble - so your body flushes out what it doesn't need.

Hi lindylou

Sorry to hear about your tiredness - the CFS diagnosis sounds like it is hormonal and that your thyroid condition is not being treated properly. Added to that if you are menopausal and lacking in oestrogen, then this will undoubtedly exacerbate your tiredness. Some women also suffer from much reduced testosterone which also leads to tiredness/CFS symptoms.

I urge you to take control and look into getting the right treatment for your thyroid, HRT if you are menopausal and see how much better and less tired you can feel.

As has been said on another thread some doctors consider such diagnoses (like CFS) as a dumping ground - and to me it does women a disservice by not considering all the hormones (ie the three main ones) that can affect our state of mind/metabolism etc at the stage - and leaving women to suffer needlessly.

Have you had checked all your vitamin levels, iron etc and are you having very healthy diet and plenty of fresh food - perhpas a few well chosen supplements now and again? There is some info about health and lifestyle here: http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/diet.php Apologies if you know all this already and are already following it all!

We can help you take small steps to improve your health so that you are no longer fatigued and can cope with life again. Do ask about any specific thing you need help with and someone will be able to answer!  :)

You can and will feel better!!!

Hurdity, my thyroid prob has been ongoing since 2008.  I had the dose right last Spring.  The Endocrinologist wanted me to increase it which I did and since then I have felt dreadful.  I have regular blood tests and see the Endo again in March.

I've come to the conclusion that we are all different and what is the right dose for one person is not right for another and to listen to our bodies rather than complying with numbers etc.

I will be looking at the link re diet but I have that rather sussed out.  I take a Multi Vitamin and extra B12 (not too much though, still within daily limits)  I have just learnt about Co-enzyme Q10 so will be looking into that too.

Thanks very much to all of you for being here to help and believe me I shall be taking you all up on it.  :thankyou: :foryou: :tulips2:
