Yep. Yep. Yep  ::)

Have a browse of the menus, left of screen.  Keeping a food/mood diary can help give a pattern to symptoms.  Are you drinking enough as this can cause tiredness.  Has your GP done blood tests, particularly for iron and thyroid function?

Hiya

Thanks for replying I had a blood test and the only thing that came up was the fsh levels which showed post menopause, she said thyroid was ok.

I am going back to docs on Wednesday as feel I didn't get to ask about options as I was quite upset she asked about family history of heart disease etc and I said no but we do have a family history.

Also to ask about jrt options if I need it or not

jrt = HRT?

Have a read of the menus, left of screen.  Have you made a double appt.?   Make sure that you remain hydrated.  Make a note of symptoms etc..  Let us know how you get on!

Why can't you make a double appt.?  :-\ then there is no way the GP should be pushing you to the door too soon  ;)

Where are you on the journey, your age, periods/not …….. HRT can protect heart and bones as can brisk exercise and a regular diet.

I get the fatigue too, though mine is that sudden 'stops everything' fatigue which will last for up to an hour and then disappear, rather than the all day variety. I hate it as when it strikes, I really can't function normally.  I must do what CKLD suggests and keep a diary as I can't work out if it's when my estrogen is very high or very low.
Hope all goes well for your appointment x

CLKD - I booked my apt online and it says please do not make two conseq apps

I am 36 I havent had a period since the beginning of August but looking back I have had symptoms since 2012 as GP looked back that was the last time I had my bloods taken due to lack of periods, and I do recall having the flushes but didn't think anything of it due to my age

Hi Shaon1978

Tiredness is definitley a symptom - but your tesosterone could also be reduced but most surgeries do not tests for this on NHS.

You must have HRT at your age - it is vital for your future health. There is no risk because it is only replacing what you should have had until 51 approx. Try to use something that is close to our own hormones - ideally patch or gel and micronised progesterone (Utrogestan) if if you'd rather have pills then Femoston - starting with 1/10 then quite soon moving to 2/10.

Don't let them give you a different cheaper product that you don't want which many docs will try to do!

Good luck with your appointment and keep us posted.

Tired seems to be my natural state of being! I don't sleep well, average of 5 or 6 hours max, so I suppose I am going to be tired....but it's such an all consuming weariness!

I'm always tired, even when I'm able to get enough sleep.  I feel really bad that I don't accomplish more in a day but I have so little energy. My thyroid is fine. I want to get into the habit of regular exercise every day, I thought maybe that would give me more energy along with lowering my blood pressure and just being good for me in general. But I haven't stuck with it long enough.  I've been feeling completely wiped out this week but I've had a lot of stress and I think that's making the fatigue worse.  If the weather would get above freezing and the snow would melt maybe I could get out and take a walk :-\

Housework is good exercise - get the hoovery-thingy out, whistle whilst you dust, ironing is good for upper back - apparently  ;D ……. stress can be tiring because often when a person is stressed the brain doesn't stop even in sleep = dreams.  Which can leave us feeling weary the next morning - well mine do  ::)

Be kind to yourself.  This is the time of year when naturally we wouldn't do as much - going to bed at dusk and up at dawn in order to save on fuel and to make more use of the daylight  ;).

Lynjane - 5-6 hours is maybe what you require! is it good quality sleep, do you dream …….

What exactly does feeling 'tired' equate as?  ???    My head always feels 'tired' because I take various medications so sometimes the brain doesn't catch up but from the next downwards I'm OK  ::)

Hi Shaon1978
I had a premature menopause which started in my mid 30s.  Hurdity is absolutely right,you need HRT to protect your heart and bones.  I'd don't know why your GP should query family history of heart disease - HRT would help prevent heart problems.  HRT will also reduce your risk of vaginal atrophy, bladder problems and will probably help the fatigue issues.
AGain Hurdity is right about what HRT to ask for - too many GPs go for the cheapest ones that are old fashioned and synthetic.  Many GPs are not up to speed about how to treat premature meno so it could be good to ask for a referral to a meno clinic or Gynae.
If your GP won't give you Oestrogen in patch or gel form with Utrogestan alongside to protect your uterus, then, as Hurdity suggested ask for Femoston 1/10 sequential HRT to start with as it is very well tolerated by many women as the progesterone is kinder and it may be better in reducing your fatigue.
Do check out this site as well: www.daisynetwork.org.uk
Print off stuff from this site and the daisy network to show your GP if necessary.
