OFF HRT OVER TWO WEEKS :)
« on: January 23, 2015, 09:28:22 PM »

Hi ive been a little bit quieter lately just to say that im basically doing ok off hrt, I still have the issue of feeling weird/fainty like Im goint to keel over and this mainly happens lunch times and after work, it seems to happen when im standing in a queue or still, I know a few ladies have mentioned this, Im off too the doctor Monday will mention it I really don't know the cause, Im taking dextrose now which can help.

I still get intermitant chest pain, don't know cause, waiting for my exercise ecg then follow up appointment with cardiologist at the moment.

I was taking starflower oil but have come off I last few days I don't think its agreeing with my ibs, I need to take vitamins and bought vit d today to start, may get b vits too?

I do sometimes get nausea, running to loo (maybe starflower?) and still don't sleep well and of course the anxiety is still there Im doing my best to control it and must look into yoga/cbt and start walking again when ecg all sorted.

So I suppose all in all not too bad, certainly the terrible fatigue has passed but whether that was the Ultrogestan or getting over a head cold or both I don't know.

I don't want to speak to soon is it possible Ive come through the worst of the menupause after just well nearly a year now?? no period since Dec 2013.

Hope all you other ladies are doing ok and have found something whether its hrt/natural remedies or ad's to help your symptoms.

Will let you know how ecg goesxxx

I'm thinking of trying them as I really don't want HRT.   They were on special in tesco last week, might still be now.

Hi Karenja,

You sound so much more calm in your post. :)
I was on a couple of hrts last year and had galloping anxiety, palps, and other weird stuff that just made the anxiety much worse.

I saw a psychotherapist for many months last year and really turned a corners when, in consolation with a great Nurse Practitioner, I decided to stop hrt. It took about 9 weeks to work it's way out my system but, like you, I felt so much better.

I take 1000mg starflower every day and have done long before peri reared its ugly head... I get breast cysts which require draining and my breast consultant advised me to take it... Keeps them under control.
I also take Menopace Extra and vit c, three for two in Boots and Sainsburys. So far any flushes I get are mild and manageable.

The psychotherapist was lovely. She'd been through similar when going through the menopause herself. She taught me so much about myself and gave me brilliant coping strategies for when anxiety comes out of nowhere.

I also do yoga, brisk walking, and try to do mindful meditation - it all helps.

Good luck with the ECG - getting out for a walk and enjoying the elements, rain, snow, sun etc is good food for the soul.

hello glad you are feeling better. Perhaps ask the doctor to check your blood pressure as low BP can cause that light headed ness especially when standing in a queue or getting up from sitting down.  Good luck

Pleased to hear you're doing fine. I decided to come off my HRT about 3/4 weeks ago. Flushes came back quickly, which I could just about have put up with but oh the sweats!!! So back on the patches again. I'm on such a low dose I thought I could cope, but don't want to end up as a soggy blob again. Maybe try again in a few months time.

Hi Cubagirl, I know how you feel night sweats are awful, its weird you same to have a sweaty face and it funs all down between your chest the most, well it did with me, I used to keep a glass of water and a damp flannel by the bed, apparently its better to wash the flannel out in luke warm water rather than cold, it definitely helped, its strange as you cool down quick then the quilt is back on again nightmare I sympathise I hope it doesn't come back with me x

Glad you are feeling better karenja.  :)

Just to say I wouldn't take dextrose tablets on a regular basis - these won't help your blood sugar to regulate. If your fainty feelings - that you experience - are not to do with low blood sugar then as babyjane says you should get your blood pressure checked. The extreme low blood sugar feelings should not make you feel that you're going to fall over and are completely different from general light-headedness.

It is better to control your blood sugar with diet as we discussed previously on other threads and only take dextrose if you are sure you are suffering from low blood sugar symptoms - which should not happen often if you sort out what and when you eat. They are unmistakeable anyway and would follow on from hunger. Having too much dextrose regularly will over-stimulate insulin production (like if you eat lots of sweets and sweet things or sugary drinks).

Hopefully your flushes and sweats will stay away! When I stopped HRT for 3 months a few years ago, mine came back after 3-4 weeks too gradually at first and then full on - just like cubagirl! I agree the night sweats are the worst because it makes you feel so tired all the time.
