Bet your hubby would like the extra money at the end of the month BJ. Why does being conservative stop you from saving money  :-\

Not convinced the savings are worth adding an extra 40 minutes onto my shopping trip  :(

It's well worth it to me but I'm not in a city so it takes at most 15 mins along a really nice coastal road. I get cheaper petrol there too so it's still saving money for me.
If your Aldi store is quite far away why not do a monthly shop.

Or the cost of running the vehicle …….  however, I would put up with that for the Very Good Views!  ;)

We used to do a monthly shop when students.  DH would go into town and find the end-of-date stuff, anything that was on offer and if we shopped late enough, we could pick up bread and veg for pennies [still do if we get to the supermarket late enough  ;) ].  Buying in bulk with neighbours can help.

We are off to Aldi 2-morrow or Friday for a look-see.  Offers on apparently …..

Spend £40 and get £5 off. You need a coupon from one of the news papers though.

Little car that costs buttons to run so not an issue for us.

We get tokens from Stressco and money off fuel which we save up.  We don't have the lovely journey though  :-\ ….. traffic, traffic, traffic …...

I only spend £20 a week and mostly on fresh stuff so not worth travelling far, but if I am ever near an Aldi I will pop in to see after reading all these positive comments!

Coast road CLKD with a view of Arran with its snow topped hills. Never tire of that view.

We do the bulk of our shopping in Aldi, topping up with meat at the local butcher then stopping at Waitrose for treats and stuff we haven't managed to get elsewhere.  I can recommend their cereal (the granola is nicer than Jordan's), tea & coffee, biscuits, cooking oil & olive oil, rice, pasta.  All the cold meats are good as is most of the cheese and it compares well to other well-known brands.  We don't buy ready meals and always cook from fresh but stuff like ketchup, gravy granules, pickle etc are all good.  The wine is great, much cheaper than most supermarkets and I haven't found one yet that I haven't liked.  I think it helps that DH is Dutch so to him it's normal as they have them over in Holland as well.  He's please when he finds something in there that he can't get anywhere else like the bami noodles and the frikendellen (like a squashed meat ball)...

Kerrieann - have your pud first  ;)

DH went to Aldi this morning and was surprised at how less he had to spend on staples  ;)
