We do the bulk of our shopping in Aldi, topping up with meat at the local butcher then stopping at Waitrose for treats and stuff we haven't managed to get elsewhere. I can recommend their cereal (the granola is nicer than Jordan's), tea & coffee, biscuits, cooking oil & olive oil, rice, pasta. All the cold meats are good as is most of the cheese and it compares well to other well-known brands. We don't buy ready meals and always cook from fresh but stuff like ketchup, gravy granules, pickle etc are all good. The wine is great, much cheaper than most supermarkets and I haven't found one yet that I haven't liked. I think it helps that DH is Dutch so to him it's normal as they have them over in Holland as well. He's please when he finds something in there that he can't get anywhere else like the bami noodles and the frikendellen (like a squashed meat ball)...
