Cardiologist and Fibroids
« on: January 08, 2015, 08:52:46 PM »

Hi I said Id report back, for those who remember I asked to be referred for scans first for my fibroids as they were meant to be large before hrt/meno and my heart as I worry about a heart attack a lot with palpatations, chest pain, tight chest etc, well I paid privately to see a cardiologist tonight told him everything and how Ive given up exercise as so scared of everything he says its not unsual for women going through meno to get ectopic heart beat and palpations etc and anxiety will cause chest tightness, but he is referring me to have an exercise ecg basically I will be on a treadmill with whilst an ecg is carried out and they will monitor that and I will then speak to cardiologist again, ive asked for this test on the nhs as cant afford private fees again, he says should only take a few weeks anyway, so will report back, the fibroid scan is via nhs and on the 20th, im hoping this will all bring reassurance x

Hi There

I get palpitations and the odd ectopic......I guess as a nurse I don't worry as I know it is likely to be meno as I am otherwise well.

Hope it goes well honey

Good news hope the results are good and put your mind at ease. I was sent for the treadmill test but unfortunately they couldn't do it as my heart rate was up to what they wanted it to go to! Was sent home with24 hr monitor instead. As you can imagine I was all over the place so I thought well something bound to show up on this, thankfully just palpitations and few etopics which were normal, keep us updated.

Hi Millykin

Yes I will let you know what happens, that's strange they sent you home, what did they mean by that your heart was already beating v fast?, Ive heard of the 24 hr monitor which sounds good to have too, and must have been a relief that it was ok.

They give you the test on treadmill to work up your heart rate say to about 140 depends on your age etc, so they put pads on you and check heart well mine was about that before we started, so couldn't be done. Must have been too anxious or hitting some palpitations at the time

Hi

Little update had fibroids scan today, still got them and lots apparently, she kept asking did I go to the loo a lot as they were lots round bladder, I asked if they were sizeable as I was told previously she said quite big some of them about 6cm, but she sees ladies with them 20cm, so made me feel better, nothing untoward with them, she will report back to dr see what they say, but at least that's something xx

update went for exercise ecg today, was ok my blood pressure was low at the beginning 100 over something so not dangerously so it does drop on times, anyway ecg fitted and b pressure monitor got on treadmill which went faster and more uphill the longer I was on there, I did have tight chest but Im so unfit now so could be that and I didn't quite complete it as Id had enough but they said that was ok most of the checks were done my heart was working ok, so basically cardio Wednesday for results and also having full blood count because of light headedness x

Hi
Sounds as though that went pretty well. If the chest tightness was a problem they would have stopped the test. BP good as well if 100 over something. Usually anything below 90/60 is classed as low and starts fainting feelings although we are all different. When I was on beta blocker for palps I knew when BP was low my eyes would be funny. My BP would be 85/56 roughly. Hope you feel better for it and results should be ok. At least you got yours done lol, keep us updated on results karenja x
