Do you not take your VW abroad?  DH wants to  ::)

We've only done so once in recent years  went to France in 2007. All our VW trips and holiday are in this country. We now go abroad somewhere in Europe usually for 7-10 days in April but fly as it's quicker!

Hurdity, I am so envious of you with your vw! Is it a splitty or a bay, which colour?  We had an orange and cream splitty in the 70's , aah, those were the days! I love them! PN x x

purplenanny - how lovely - we have more than one - I'll pm you and bore you with VW tales!

I'd love to go to Scotland again - on a big road trip in the VW but a long way from Devon and my husband isn't keen these days because of the weather  ;D

My neighbour has been on several river cruises and loves them...

We had 8 fab days up North in September - 4 nights on Loch Lomond and 4 near Craster - no midges, quiet camp-sites, good shower blocks  ;) ………. and if the weather 'turns' 1 can drive back towards Devon until 1 finds the sunshine  ;)

The weather is not bad up here all the time  ;D. We had a lovely summer last year.

We can't go that far from home but luckily there are some lovely places just a few hours drive away. As long as I am away from the routine of home then I will be happy.

Have a Google of Kirkcudbright. That's where we are off too. It's very pretty and lots to do and see. Hubby loves it as its the artists village and has a close connection to the Glasgow boys. For somewhere so small it has a really good atmosphere.

I may be Scottish but never been to Kirkcudbright. Actually sadly lacking in visits to many parts of Scotland. I suggested a road trip to hubby, but he has bad memories of driving all over Scotland one year to satisfy his parents holiday requests and he had to pay for all the petrol, so I've never pushed him too much as a result.

We never take our fuel charges into account.  We are going away and it's part of the over-all costs - if we didn't go away we would probably drive out from here.

As for that trip Cubagirl, maybe book somewhere 'central' where there is good public transport?  Get there, relax, take days out ….. that's what we do in Brighton/Lewes, settle into B&B and take the train or walk.

The C&C Club book arrived yesterday - giving Himself Big Ideas  ::)

Holiday booked. Also planning an overnight trip to see brother & SIL. No doubt a few trips to Notts too over the year.

If you were given a free ticket to anywhere in the World where would you go? [no anxiety, no sea sickness, no worries about flying]

I would go to the Italian Lakes for 2 months - end of March to enjoy the Spring!

I'd go to New Zealand or Hawaii.

One of my favourite places is the Ile de Re, a beautiful island close to La Rochelle. It is so pretty, every little village has a cycle rental shop and the island is perfect for cycling, cycle paths absolutely everywhere, beautiful beaches on the Atlantic and lovely French markets and restaurants. It was always a dream of mine to spend a whole summer there. When my husband was ill in hospital, one of the things that kept him going was his determination to go back there one more time and cycle along a particular path next to the oyster beds, we did manage to do it although he was very unwell.

Not driving HB. Making use of Club 55 tickets. Just waiting for SIL to get back to me with suitable dates. Got a Groupon voucher for hotel, which is just around the corner from them.

As for where I'd go, around the world if I could. Hubby desperate to do that one.
