Well I have started the New Year with a jolly good sleep. Fell asleep way before midnight and just woken and it's nearly 9.00! This time last year I was very ill and I had plenty of health dramas through the year. This year the only paramedic, however wonderful, I intend to see is my son! Onwards and upwards!

Just heard a report on the radio that the crowds watching the fireworks were uncomfortably large this year. Anyone go??

Which city Stella?

Happy New Year All

Went to bed as normal only to be woken by fireworks at midnight - initially thought something horrible was happening in the house!

This year was the first time they issued tickets to control the amount of people watching although I guess you could still see from outside the area.  I think it was limited to 100,000 because, last year, more than 500,000 tried to see them.

I didn't realise that. Lots of sad beginnings but also lots of happy ones. Unfortunately the press only tend to pick up on the bad and sad news.

Now, CLKD, I am off to see if the local has reopened after it's New Years Eve night off - will report back!

Let us know!  Perhaps, as with our local Landlady, they went sales shopping  ;D

I can report that the pub was open and very full. New Years Day is a walk-your-dog-through-the-forest-to-the-pub day.
