OMG I'm going mad
« on: December 14, 2014, 02:29:06 PM »

Does anyone else keep using the wrong word? it is happening to me more and more and although sometimes it is quite comical it is also quite alarming.

This morning, I told my OH that some men had turned up in a FLATBREAD full of earth to fill in the holes on the Heath where new lamposts had been erected.

I then told him that a man was out on the Heath hitting golf balls and the police had come along and put him in CUFFLINKS.

I meant flatbed and handcuffs of course! God knows what I say without noticing  ???

Don't worry I do it too. My worst problem is not finding the right word & then going on at great lengths trying to describe what I'm trying to say, when that one word would have said it all. Frustrating isn't it?  ::)

I also start a sentence about someone and then when I get to the part where I have to say the name I can't remember it for the life of me. As in, 'Oh yes, he starred in that film with ????) It is always such a shock as well when the name doesn't come as I know exactly who I mean.  ::)

I hate it when I've known a person for years but when I go to introduce them, can't remember the name  :-X

I queued for 20 minutes in Selfridges yesterday for some of those 'personalised' Nutella jars - don't know if you've seen them but someone came up with a wicked idea for making money  ::)

When it was my turn and I had to write the names I wanted on a piece of paper, I had completely forgotten the name of one of the children I was buying for! It came to me eventually but I had visions of having jars for all the children except one - nightmare!

I know, I was terrified I was going to forget my address the other day, it came to me in the nick of time. Also, I have to say my mobile phone number very quickly otherwise I forget the second half if I think about it too much. I have to keep re-setting my M&S password because I can't remember it. Luckily I have the same PIN number on all my cards or I would be totally lost! ::)

The more I try hard to find the right word, the more elusive the word becomes.

I am surrounded by thingies, wotsits, doohickeys, and oojamaflips.

When I find words, there's no guarantee they will be the right ones and I forget my train of thought too. It certainly makes for an interesting conversation/business meeting  ;D

I have all my passwords written down and hidden, other wise I have no chance.

We stay in ###### Gardens.....round the corner is #### Drive.  I get them mixed up on a regular basis.

Then there is my name.....easy you would think. I have answered to two christian names all my life. My dad registered them the wrong way round so my mother called me by my middle name. I also answer to my first name.

Now when someone asks my name, or I have to quote my name, I have to think quickly to try and remember what they know me by.

Complicated or what....life is never easy and like I need any more to get confused over.

My OH and I laugh about it when I use the wrong word, we say words are floating by above my head and I reach for the closest one and think 'that'll do'  :o
