Morning Sickness Anyone?
« on: December 06, 2014, 11:36:37 AM »

Do any of you suffer with nausea?  It tends to happen first thing in the morning, I sometimes wake up in the night with it.  It feels just like morning sickness.

Yip, not so bad now but went through sn awful stage where it wouldn't stop. Some mornings I feel really bad but it passes quick now, part of the anxiety I think. I just force myself to have breakfast and it passes.

I have had it loads and during the night too. I manage it now by having  snack before bed of toast or something similar ...never get it now.

I'm getting it through the night as well.  How long did it take to pass?

Low blood sugar? causing anxiety surges as hormone levels dip?

We seem to have several similar threads - time of year maybe?

Yep, usually with random fatigue and burping to add to the fun. In some literature it's listed as a peri symptom. Plain foods like bread sticks and RichTea biscuits help a little. It eases through the day but is often there when I wake up/go to bed.  Having an extra pillow helps. Had tests that revealed no gastro problems so I am sure it's hormonal. Like CKLD says, try to eat something regularly if you can to avoid low blood sugar making things worse. Good luck. Xx

Hey

Get it still sometimes, had this symptom around a year. I always eat a snack before bed and have small snacks in my bag for thought out the day , like an apple, cereal bar or belvita etc xxx

Energy bars can have hidden sugars.  We use those designed for cyclists which are easy to break bits off - 'go ahead!' are my current favourites

I have this too.  Thank goodness for this site to know that we are not alone with these symptoms.  The nausea is one of the worst, can really mess up your life.  It is just like morning sickness and can even come at any time.  Definitely caused by the ovaries merry dance.  My GP, who is no support, said she had never heard of it but there are obviously thousands of women who suffer with this in meno, I am surprised she has never researched this on the net.  I did ask for stemetil tablets but even they are not always that effective.  She has prescribed sertraline but am scared they might make me feel more nauseous!  Some docs seem to only want to go down the antidepressant route now.  It is very scary the length of time that some of us suffer with the flushing.

Thank you so much for all your replies, it really helps knowing I am not alone.  I feel like I am slowly falling apart.

Even though my hormones are erratic, rather than always low, I do now think HRT is easing the nausea . Made it worse at first, but seems to be calming now. Do get those tests done, toffee cushion, then hopefully your GP will finally support you and offer HRT. If not, I would consider swapping doctors. That's what I had to do and now wish I had done it miles sooner. My old GP refused to accept my nausea/fatigue/dizziness symptoms as being hormonal / peri because FSH wasn't high. New one immediately said peri, and offered HRT or Qlaira straight away. In our 40s, it is vital we have sufficient estrogen x

It seems to be one thing after another with me.  I never feel normal anymore.  Everyday there is something.  I keep finding myself bursting into tears for no real reason too.  If it's not perimenopause I must be depressed, but I know if I explain this to the doctor she will give me antidepressants.

I'll get the saliva test done after Christmas, hopefully it will show hormone fluctuations.  Until then I am going to take one day at a time.  We are away just before Christmas, altogether as a family, so I have something positive to look forward to.  Not sure if any of you will remember, I will never forget it, but last Christmas we went to Florida and I was in the middle of a period that lasted 7 weeks so felt drained.  Hoping to enjoy every minute of this holiday.

Thank you all for your support.

Big hugs to you toffee cushion - I so know how you feel and it's miserable   :foryou:

Hopefully the tests will help put your mind at rest and knock some sense into your doc. It sound silly, but when my tests finally showed low estrogen, it was like a massive weight lifted off my mind. Really, really hope you have the same experience (not that I would wish this on anyone, but you know what I mean!). X
