Hello, I'm new
« on: November 25, 2014, 01:06:07 PM »

Hi all. I'm 47 and have just today persuaded my GP to let me try HRT after over 12 months of hot flushes, day and night, sleeplessness vaginal dryness making me so sore and mood swings like you wouldn't believe. She was very much against and I nearly wavered but I just want to reclaim a normal life at the moment.

 :welcomemm:

why was your GP 'against' HRT?  Because it comes out of the budget ……… it may be a while before you find a regime that 'works' or you may be lucky.  Let us know!  Also let your GP know and don't be fobbed off.

Have you read the vaginal atrophy thread?  This needs treating separately to other symptoms.

Have a read of the menus, left of screen and use the 'search' button for any queries that aren't obvious.  Browse round ………

Thanks, I'll have a look at the vaginal atrophy thread. I've been using Replens MD for a couple of weeks.  :)
My GP's concerns seemed to centre on the published health risks.

Which may well be out of date  ;)

Also - once a lady has been informed and taken on board those apparent 'risks', we should be given enough credit to make the choice!  ::) …….

Keep browsing  ;)

hello and welcome. Well done for standing up for what you want in order to reclaim your life and health.  there is a lot of information and support on this site and no question is ever too small to ask so don't be shy and don't sit there on your own worrying and wondering.  there always seems to be someone who knows exactly what you mean....... :)

I don't have HRT but I do have vaginal atrophy and I know exactly how that feels!

Hope you enjoy the forum  :welcomemm:

Hi Lescoleen  :welcomemm: from me too

I hope the HRT works for you. How regular are your periods? Do ask anything and we'll try to help.

When I first started HRT I stopped using vaginal oestrogen as I was still peri-menopausal and the HRT was all I needed. As I got further into meno I needed it again because it works locally - so just bear that in mind as time goes on.

Evening all. My periods are really erratic now. I went 5 months without one and then they started again but with longer intervals. I haven't had one for a few months now.
I've got 3 months supply of tablets then I have to go back.
