elleste duet mix up
« on: November 18, 2014, 01:55:27 PM »

hi everyone, just started with hrt 2 weeks ago. i am 48 yrs old. on elleste duet 1mg. main problem are the hot flushes disrupting sleep.  started tablets but realised today i put the day sticker on wrong side of pack! so started the green tablets 3 days too early - how stupid of me! ::).  will this be a problem? just felt a few days ago that sleep was a little easier , but yesterday and today the flushes have been not great - and had the most bizarre dreams for last two nights.  any advice?  doctor has given me 3 months and advised may need stronger dose is flushes dont improve. so only early days at the moment - but cant believe i have messed up the first month! how embarrassing ;D

Hi toothbrush and welcome.
I'm not experienced but if you have missed 3days White tablets oestrogen and now started green progrsterone I don't think it will be a problem. I would just carry on and keep a close eye that you take 14 lol. These take time to build up in our systems so you would need to give them a few months to see a difference. I tried elleste duet but after 3 months stopped didn't get on well with them I'm now on Femoston 1/10 and much better it is a kinder progesterone. You can ask for this if you don't find elleste suits you.
You should take a bleed after green tablets, hopefully someone will come along and reassure you about your mix up

Hi toothbrush

 :welcomemm:

As Millykin says as long as you take them all I'm sure you will be fine. What happens to your bleed will depend on where you are in meno re periods etc when you started the tablets. You might find you are out of sync a bit with your own cycle - but if you are fairly far on into meno with hardly any periods then you should be fine.

Sometimes, even though HRT works to stop flushes they seem to return sometimes when women are on the progestogen part of the HRT. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the progestogen (in your case norethisterone in Elleste) can interfere with the oestrogen receptors elsewhere in the body than just the uterus (where it works to prevent the lining building up), and can upset the temp regulation effect that the oestrogen has. Can't remember where I read that!

Hopefully you will feel better soon - progestogens do seem to cause vivid dreams in some women!

many thanks hurdity,
havent had period for 5 months so wont upset any pattern i think. will plod on and see how it goes.  i had gone to a menopause clinic over a year ago as had started with flushes and awful migraines and they suggested evorel sequi patch then , but my blood pressure was too high so treatment wasnt started. i wonder if stress was to blame then. i then seemed to get back to normality, normal periods for a short spell and hot flushes seemed to diminish.  was planning on going back to this special clinic but they have no appointments till february :(. so saw a lovely Gp who spent a long time going through everything. i have to go back after the first 3 months so will try and log any probs. thanks :)
