HI. Ladies
My gyni told me my Fsh are high, I understand that means female stimulating hormones, does that mean she tested eastrogen and progestetone, as soon as I applied ostigel within 2 hours I was really ill, and very hot, could it be that I don't tolerate the eastrogen, I also take thyroxine, the two are not getting on I don't think.
Any suggestions please.

Hello Scampi.

As I understand it FSH stands for Follicle Stimulating Hormone and is produced by the pituitary gland in the brain in an effort to get the ovaries to prepare to release an egg. When the ovaries have used up their supply of eggs and therefore can't respond the FSH levels rise and remain high and this is a good indicator of  the menopause. Your response to your treatment may be a coincidence as feeling hot is another symptom of the menopause.
Don't despair, there are many well informed ladies on this site who can help you and there are lots of options for treatment.

Your right my mistake, thank you for reply, the piturity gland also has a lot to do with thyroid gland and the is it the thymus gland. It's all so confusing, because both menopause and thyroid symptoms are exactly the same,  can't get a simple answer from my GPS.

My endocrinologist warned me, some years ago, that my thyroid levels could be harder to keep stable when I reached menopause and this has been the case.  I have needed my bloods testing more often and dose adjusted sometimes up and sometimes down. 

Now I am post menopausal they do not fluctuate as much but still need monitoring regularly.

I don't know about thyroxine and HRT as I have not used HRT.

What does it mean 'high'? My FSH was 70 in August and my gynecologist did not prescribe anything to me

I read a paper that showed some interaction particuarly with oral HRT and thyroid medication but not sure about oestrogel/patches. Can hunt for it if anyone is interested.

Thank you for replies,  I to knew I was menopausal, flushing, hot sweats, everything else that goes along with it, but since being on the ostigel I have felt so bad, worse than worse, I have hashimotos which make it difficult to regulate the hrt and thyroxine. Also having adrenals tested I hope they sort it out soon, can't cope anymore.

I have 1 pump of gel, my thyroid levels are all over the place, but seem better of hrt, have tsh 0.33(22/42). T4 22.9 (12/22) slightly abou we tsh ok, on hrt my tsh is 2.10 ( 0.40/4.00). T4 16.5 (12.22).
So confused and upset and I don't even feel like me anymore, I am getting a hairy chin and top lip lost a lot of weight, pmt, anger, sobbing suicidal, no libido, period pains I have not had a bleed for 3 years and been spotting for a couple of weeks now.
The symptoms are the same for lacking in eastrogen and being dominent in eastrogen, confused.
I have also found a lump on my throat which is being investigated tomorrow, gp is very concerned, the appointment came through within 4 days of her referring me.
So fed up all the time.
