I just wondered if anyone else had experience of this pill. I am on month 3...
My doctor put me on it as my periods were a nightmare, I was coming on every 10 to 18 days but flooding and coming on really heavy. To begin with he put me on HRT but I had awful side effects, so because the hot flushes etc aren't that bad at the moment and the thing I wanted to control the most was the periods, he suggested the mini pill, the first two months weren't too bad.
 In month 1 I had spotting for 4 days and a period for 4 days, then in month 2 I had spotting for 5 days and a period for 6 days, now on month three i have had spotting for 8 days then I have come on and I have now been on for 11 days and it still hasn't stopped, when I'm on I have a heavy feeling in the bottom of my stomach that doesn't go away!!! Will this ever settle down. Just wondered if anyone else had any experience of this and is this normal?

Took my daughter a good six months to settle on this. She says it was still better than what she had to put up with before.

She finds she gets on better if she takes it at the same time every day. If she even misses a day it triggers a bleed. She uses hers to stop painful periods and also contraception. She spoke to the GP and was told this is very common.

Not sure how old you are and whether HRT would be more appropriate.

I'm 49. 50 just after Christmas! I don't need it for contraception! I have a doctors appointment on Friday, which has taken me 4 weeks to get so want to decide what I want to do or at least have an idea before I go as it is so hard to get an appointment with my doctor!

I think perhaps if you have a look at the menus on the left then that should give you an idea of what to discuss with your GP.

HRT would probably be a better option. A conti HRT would give you a regular bleed and symptom control.

The mini pill is really not for meno symptoms.

Hi

Cerazette is progesterone only and the great thing about it is that it has a 12 hour window for taking it unlike most mini-pills which just has a 3 hour one. For some ladies it gives no periods as you take it continuously, I didn't have any problems on it and only came off it when I wanted a blood test to see what the hormones were up to (gone lol)

My friend had similar problems but was put on the combination pill for a short time to help regulate. Not ideal but it did seem to work, maybe if you are low risk (family history, weight, non-smoker etc) then they might suggest this route to help you in the short term?

A conti HRT would give you a regular bleed and symptom control.

I don't get a bleed at all with a conti HRT - perhaps that's just me
