I love putting the Christmas stuff up, but as soon as it's over I can't wait to get them down.

We haven't had our tree up for about 10 years or more as we usually go away for New year and it's just another thing to do before we go away.
We do however have loads of lights (indoor and outdoor) and lovely decorations.
Should have been writing my cards this afternoon but couldn't be bothered  ::)

Years ago I had written our cards by mid-September.  Now I can't be bothered to get them out of the box.

Our tree will be going up next weekend.
I'm like Littleminie, don't mind putting them up, but as soon as Xmas over,
can't wait to get them packed away.
The house seems bare though when they've been packed away, until I get used to it again.
I do love twinkle lights though, just put some above our bed....look lovely 😊.

We will be going over. It's easier as my mind would be with her  :-\ but we have to visit his brother/wife on Boxing Day.  Then home  ;D

In 3 garden centres today, people are buying their trees already  :o

Birthday first  ;) - then the Duty Visit with all that will entail - then Duty Visit to his brother and home  ;).  We can then do what we like.  I think it' the intensity to be 'happy' when I would rather be elsewhere. It's the necessity to do our best to get there regardless of how ill I might feel.  It's a habit that will be broken in years to come ;-).

I have piles of things to be wrapped to send to Oz but lack motivation  :(

That's exactly it! CLKD.
The intensity to feel happy and making everyone else happy at Xmas.  :-\
It's the expectation of it all.
It's always been on my head, years ago my brothers and their families would come over to our house, and after I'd cooked our Xmas dinner, (4 of us), I'd be cooking for when they got here later on. Or getting nibbles out and a like, yeah we had a laff, but no one invited us over to theirs, it was always them coming to us! At the time I didn't mind, but in hindsight,
I wish one of them would have had the stress of it all.  ::)
Never mind, it's all done and dusted now, we've all gone our separate ways, and now only speak to one brother, who never did come over at that time anyway..... ;)
But the intensity of it all stays with me........it's a bloody annoying thing!  :o

However: it may have been less stressful 4 them to visit with you ?  Perhaps they couldn't have coped with the influx ;-)

Yes CLKD, I don't think they'd have been able to cope with it,
I was a better hostess, they'd wouldn't have had a clue. 🤔
