Think I've been bitten by spider
« on: October 02, 2014, 10:01:28 PM »

Tonight I have a lump on side of my neck, very red, with definite centre. Last night I was sitting watching TV when I felt something on my neck. When I brushed it away I realised it was a small spider. Never thought any more about it until I realised tonight I have a lump on same side as I felt it last night, which is a bit sore to touch. Nothing oozing from it, but I've taken some antihistamine. Not sure if that'll make much difference. Hope it's gone or at least a bit calmer by tomorrow morning. Little sympathy from himself of course, he just went "Oh yes." No more, no less.

My neighbours dog got bit the other night by a spider poor thing, came out in lumps so vet checked her and gave antihystimes. Youngest daughter jumped out of bed screaming last night one jumped of her wall on to her so as in her words "after wresting with it I wrapped it up in my bed sheet and put it out on landing"

I caught one that I think bit me. Lump looks the same this morning. Inflammation still there, but not spreading.

Our eldest GD would have said something similar to your daughter. Youngest ;D  GD  is terrified of even smallest bugs.

Better than daughter's house. They are in rented property & since they've moved in they have found larvae. They cannot source it, but have discovered it's carpet beetles. They've emptied rooms, hoovered, had carpets cleaned etc. Thought they'd eliminated them, but no, back they came.

We've not had many spiders inside  this year, maybe they're congregating somewhere.  ;D  Outdoors, there are heaps. Webs everywhere.

We have had a few monsters in over the past few weeks. I hate them and hubby has to deal with them.

I'm the spider lover in our house!  I genuinely do like them - fascinating creatures!  Hubby is not keen, although he will get rid of one if necessary.  Daughter hates them, unless they are the glittery tinsel variety the supermarkets sell for Halloween - she has quite a collection of those ranging in size from one with a body the size of tennis ball to one with 8ft long legs!!!!

Being a rented house, not a lot daughter can do. They've done cleaning etc but the wee blighters keep returning.

Remember we had a problem once with larvae. Discovered them in cot mattress whilst we lived in a damp cold house. Cot mattress got the heave. They were crawling round carpet edges too. So when we moved to new house they were all left behind, or so we thought. They got into one of daughter's teddys. Teddy got the chop! No more bugs.

My daughter is quite OCD about these things, but they just cannot figure where they have originated. Initially thought it was something to do with cat which house owners had, but obviously not that.

We had carpet beetles a few years back but they seem to have gone now. I found them interesting - but then again I like anything like that - and quite pretty. I was forever trying to cover up the fact that there may still have been some around as the rest of my family didn't share my enthusiasm. They also don't like the silver fish which live in the downstairs cloakroom but I do.

;D  I'm sure you'd manage. My husband can't stand spiders but he also doesn't like the silver fish but the spiders catch the silver fish so it all works out in the end.

Daughter hoping the spiders would gobble the carpet beetles. No luck yet though.

It's settled thanks. Can still see it but no nasty red lump now, just wee mark where I was bitten.

That's good, at least it didn't turn nasty.
