EVOREL SEQUI EXPERIENCES GOOD AND BAD
« on: September 18, 2014, 08:32:12 PM »

Hello Im just coming up to the end of week two on the second month of these hrt patches, good and bad days, last few days are the not so good ones, anxiety playing up again, Im kind of dreading starting the conti patches as if I feel bad now I may well feel worst, I try not to think that way but its hard, on a plus flushes in the day and now very few and far between as are night sweats, I get lots of strange feelings like I will get cramp in my feet, or an ache in my calfs on a pain in my chest and try to think its hormones/patches, but some days you just feel like crying! Im going to stick at it for now give it three months and then see, how is everybody else on these patches doing? and have they helped anxiety for anybody? xx

Hi karenja
As you know I'm 1 week ahead of you. So almost a week on my progesterone added patch. My head is not nearly as fuzzy as last month, in fact its fine, however i am very warm all the time  and not sleeping as well. My hair is also shedding a bit which I'm finding upsetting.  Im also gaining weight, I'm in a quandary  with it to be honest and chatting with gp tomorrow. I did see her last week anspd she said to try a little longer but contact her if i need to. So what im saying is my emotional state is better this month, but its a case of weighing up whats best for you good luck x

Sorry if ive asked before, but does anybody know if I can take a stress relief tablet with these patches, as my anxiety particularly bad right now, the one I have is a herbal store stress remedy tablet, it has the following in it:-

Extract of Hops equivalent to 200 mg/tablet
Extract of Valerian equivalent to 160 mg/tablet
Extract of Passion Flower equivalent to 130 mg/tablet

sounds harmless but my gp is so strict on mixing stuff it makes me paranoid!

Yes I think it is okay to,take these herbal tablets. I often take valeriana when feeling anxious and it works for me fine.

Thanks I did speak to my doctor and she said it was ok though when I checked the bottom of the leaflet it had more ingredients in the herbal tablets than I thought:-

Extract excipients: Maltodextrin, colloidal
 anhydrous silica, liquid glucose.
 Core excipients: Calcium hydrogen phosphate,
 microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid,
 magnesium stearate.
 Film-coating: Polyethylene glycol 400,
 hypromellose 4500, hydroxypropylmethyl
 cellulose, iron oxides (E172), titanium
 dioxide (E171).
34 mg of extract (as dry extract) from
Hop strobile (Humulus lupulus L.) (4-6:1)
 Extraction solvent: Ethanol 70% (v/v)
30.8 mg of extract (as dry extract) from
Valerian root (Valeriana officinalis L.) (4:1)
 Extraction solvent: Ethanol 60% (v/v)
15.2 mg of extract (as dry extract) of
Passion Flower herb (Passiflora incarnata L.)
 (5-7:1) Extraction solvent: Ethanol 50% (v/v)

Even the doctor didn't know what half of these were! but still said should be fine, I really need them today tightness in chest, palpatations, just fell anxious :( fed up of it, going to see gp next week only spoke about the herbal tablets today, I did mention my palpatations and when she checked my ecg results said it was reasonable not v reassuring! x

I told my GP and she said jury was out in terms of cause and effect for my hair. Because I'm feeling so much better emotionally and mentally this month I'm going to try and continue and see if my hair problem settles, if it doesn't i have told my GP i want to stop and reconsider and she supports that. In terms on weight gain ive always watched my weight and so will see it gain continues or plateaus out. I also take an iron supp for my hair and have restarted sea kelp as i used to take that for healthy hair - how are you doing karenja?

Hi Karin,

I think your right to carry on with the patches especially if you are feeling better in lots of ways, hopefully your hair problem will settle must be awful for you, I think with me the anxiety is the biggest issue which escalates and makes me a bag of nerves if I get chest pain or any symptom like that and it has definitely stopped me doing a lot of things I enjoyed, but as far as flushes and night sweats are concerned yes definite improvement, im back on the conti patches tomorrow so will see how that goes  and im going to go back to gp but I don't think they know what to say anymore x
