Hi guys,
I have all of these things and have ,on and off for years, mine have often been related to having low iron levels (ferritin) obvs this wont be thecase in everyone but its a  tirigger for me.
doctors will often overlook this is a cause for those kinds of symptoms if you fall within a normal "range" but the normal  range is vast and being on tbe lower end of it, definitley causes these symptoms in me.

I think once anxiety gets a grip it is so hard to get rid of.  It's not like just having a headache, when you can take a pill and feel the relief.  It takes time and a lot of hard work, and patience is something else I seem to have lost along this tiresome journey.  It's exhausting.  I had a cup of 'normal' tea yesterday as opposed to my usual decaff and I honestly thought I was going to have a heart attack from the palpitations! I had the shakes and just couldn't shake off the awful adrenalin surge.  It took a couple of glasses of vino before I felt somewhat normal again.  I feel I need a wee tablet that has the same effect as the wine but without the alcohol.   ;)  It is comforting in a way, to know others are experiencing these symptoms, although in all honesty, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy (well, maybe I would!  I seem to also have developed a slight bitterness to others with this meno,

hello to the ladies in this thread.  thank you for your reassuring posts re anxiety.

I do use Rescue Remedy and, for me, it takes the edge off a bit and you can use it as often as you need to.  It does contain grape alcohol but only a little.  I did think about a glass of wine but was scared I might turn into an alcohol dependent so left that alone.

Nothing wrong with a daily glass of wine as long as it's a small one, and you have a couple of alcohol free days during the week. It is very relaxing and when I have a small amount, or a small glass of sherry I feel the relaxation wash over me, and become very mellow. As long as you make sure you don't gradually increase the amount and become dependent - a small amount is good for you if it relieves stress and anxiety! Well that's my view anyway!

Hi
I can sympathize with everyone who has replied in this thread today my husband took me to see about getting me a new car, should have been excited but when the salesman was talking to me I felt a panic coming on legs were like jelly and my mouth went totally dry and felt like I couldn't speak. If I'm taken outside my comfort zone of either been in the house or at work I start to panic and have feelings of dread. it's lovely to hear that I'm not alone.

Morning ladies just notice this thread! I had this - severe vertigo, panic attacks etc for nearly 2 years - took me over a year to realize mine was cyclical - I got it for 2 weeks from ovulation to menstruation. What fixed it completely for me was progesterone! I had zero and it was this that was making me dizzy! Even when I went on full hrt when I stopped the progesterone part I was hit with vertigo for 3 days... May be worth considering.

I felt like it was never going to end and I was never going to make it through - a truly awful time in my life (yes I remember being unable to shop etc and clinging onto the bed as I felt like I was going to fall off) BUT I made it through!

For panic attacks I solved them literally by trying it will one on! I used to say to myself - come on do your worst - that just stopped them!
Cbt is also great ....

Hi SuzyQ - if you ovulated you would not have zero progesterone. If the spaced out feeling was from ovulation to menstruation it is most likely that you were affected by the sudden increase in progesterone which happens after ovulation (the corpus luteum produces it) and then the rapid fall in progesterone just before the bleed.

Whilst not everyone reacts to the increase in progesterone, most women react to the fall in progesterone, which gives rise to may of the pmt symptoms. The 3 day vertigo after stopping the progesterone part is absolutely normal pmt - most women will experience something like this! I usually do too! Sometimes I get a migraine. It is caused by progesterone withdrawal, but not because you need it, but because it causes physiological changes oin the body which are rapidly reversed. It is likened to withdrawing from certain drugs.

Most women find that when it has cleared from the system  (the withdrawal phase is past) they feel much better.

Some women prevent this feeling - like yourself - by staying on progesterone the whole time, to prevent the withdrawal symptoms and the fluctuations.

Many women however are sensitive to progesterone and couldn't stay on it all the time. In any case progesterone has a sedative effect and dampens the effect of oestrogen - to some extent interferes with the beneficial effect of oestrogen.

This is why I am on a longer cycle. I like the progesterone to completely clear from my system and do not want to experience the sedative effect permanently.

I am not saying I ovulated! I am saying it was in that timeframe where I would expect to ovulate! We have had this discussion before and although I am very clear on your personal feelings around progesterone and the apparent endemic of progesterone intolerance in ladies, this is not and was not the case for me and others! I managed very nicely for over a year just supplementing progesterone, as continuous testing showed very good estrogen levels and Very very low progesterone (at a time in my cycle where it should have been it's highest)

I appreciate your experience and views, but please allow others to share their experiences, which may not be your experience, with an open mind! There is a great deal of research on thee benefits of progesterone in relieving all the symptoms of menopause - I know you don't subscribe to this, but I am genuinely feeling like I should not post my experience (and the wisdom of my specialist) because I will be told I am wrong!!

Perhaps this is not the open forum that I was anticipating from my membership here.....

I wish you all luck in your journey and hope you feel better soon x

HI have you tried looking at the no more panic website. It is really good I have had and still have anxiety but this website really got me thinking and it started to make me look at things when I was in a panic attack instead of being completely bowled over by them

It will get better geri :)

Hi Ladies

I have this horrid spaced out feeling where I feel I'm almost drugged and not quite there (if that makes sense), and I know when this is the case that when I go out, I'm most definately going to have panic attacks.  When I'm out walking I feel everything around me is spinning and the pavement feels like its moving up and down, I feel so dizzy, and I'm sure I must look drunk! I get the sweats, hands shake and everything feels unreal.  This can last until I get home again, not like a panic attack that last for minutes. In the supermarket with daughter this morning, and I knew it was panic but really thought I was going to die.  Went to a function with hubby at the weekend, lasted ten minutes, and had to be brought home.  It was so hot in the place, my heart was pounding, felt everyone was looking at me (they weren't), and just felt so out of it.  I am so sick of myself, as at the moment my life has grounded to a halt.

Bumping for holidaylover. I had EXACTLY the same episode a month ago 'pavement feels like it's moving up and down', along with dizziness and feeling hot.  It was the first one I had in my entire life and I had just been to the supermarket! Coincidence?!
