This forum has offered a great deal of support when I have been panicking about things.
I've heard if forums where you can only discuss the issue and topic.
I'me sure that would work very well, if only I could remember what it was I set out to do in the first place

The fact you can go off topic is great, much more balanced. I've looked at other websites, but came away, feeling disheartened. Most of the posts seemed full of doom and gloom, whereas here you can get support, but you can also have a joke.

I've apparently been logged in for 54 days and a bit more, however, as I've been 'here' for 5 years <shrug> ?

Don't mean to be rude Babyjane but i am glad there isn't a like button on here.
Sorry going off topic a bit here but i went on to facebook for the first time recently where the like buttons are.
I looked around for people i know and found an old friend out in Oz but i am going to have to leave it all alone now and delete myself - can't pin point it but there is something about facebook that felt very strange - my children are caught up in it - i sort of wish now that they weren't but i won't be able to change that.
Anyone else feel like i do ?

Yep. Would never join FaceBook ……..
Because people haven't kept physical contact: i.e. phone calls, c..mas cards etc. : our card lists have halved in recent years. A couple of friends have popped up via e-mail which I OK-ish ………
I was away from the computer for 3 days and missed you all
……….. if I'm on holiday it's not as bad as we are doing stuff. It was 4 pages to catch up with today!

I adore facebook. You only need to share as much as you want to. You can even set it so that nobody can find you if they search. It's a great way to catch up with lots of people at once via the messaging system. This morning I was chatting to three friends one in the UK, one in New Zealand and another in New York. You can tailor it to meet your own needs but you do need to keep rechecking privacy settings as FB don't always tell you when they make changes.

hattie not rude at all, you are entitled to your opinion. I am not a great fan of facebook and only keep it for immediate family and closest friends and I don't collect friends. I wouldn't want this forum to be like facebook I just meant there are so many good posts I keep wanting to 'like' them.
lets not let this become a debate about facebook as everyone has their own opinions about that

BJ I get what you mean. Sometimes you might not have anything to say, but want to show your appreciation.

I can't live without facebook, love it for my daily laugh
and lots of interesting things that my "lot" post about or "like" I like to share some of them on MM.
Never in the last five years that I have been on FB has there been any problems or unpleasantness.
If you use FB and you have seen a post on MM you automatically think you want to "Like" it its just an automatic response, perfectly harmless and a compliment or an appreciation of the post, without thinking I have looked for the "like" when I read some posts on MM
