Evorel Sequi not sticking?
« on: August 01, 2014, 05:18:31 PM »

Hi ladies,
I'm wondering if anyone else here has had these patches and if so had trouble getting them to stick for more than a few hours?

I put the first one on my side hip, just below where my knickers end and within an hour it had creased from movement. It puckered and creased some more and then after my shower this morning it just came right off.
The second one I have put on my bum cheek, more towards the back, still the same problem. Instantly creases and lifts away from the skin when I sit/stand...this one is inside my knickers which I thought would give it a better chance.

I'm not a skinny girl at size 16 so obviously there is a bit of wobble factor in the bum department but surely this isn't right?
I was expecting patches to be a little elastic so they could move with the skin, but these ones make a rustling noise when you press on them, is like a little bit of crisp packet with glue under it.

As I've only just started using these I want to be able to give them a proper chance but surely if part of the patch is not stuck to my skin then I'm not getting the full benefit or the hormone?

I've made sure my skin is clean and dry when I stick it on...maybe my skin oily or something, but that's not something I would have associated with that region of my body!

I am sweating a lot still, only at the beginning of my HRT journey, but it needs to be able to be stuck to a sweaty body on occasion doesn't it  ;D

Also been feeling quite spaced out yesterday and today, had a really early night last night as felt so tired, due to the hormones I'm certain, I had a really nice calm feeling in my chest that was noticable as am so unused to it. But a fitful night sleep with strange dreams.

Does anyone have any advice, are these patches supposed to be so 'crisp packet-y', how do you get them to stay put!?

thank you sweatily in advance

Nuisaince ain't it!  Have you done a 'search' for Evorel Sequi to see how others have fared, button top left white on blue.  That will take you to the threads etc..

I welcomed you in your 'new' thread  ;)

I use Evorel Conti patches and find it helps not to use moisturising or cream type shower gels as they seem to leave an greasy / oily type residue which makes it difficult for the patches to stick. The other thing is to hold your hand over the patch for a small time after applying, say 30 secs or so, to get it to adhere firmly.

I agree putting them under the knickers helps, especially away from the elastic.

I find putting them on my lower abdomen good, the bits just to the sides the hip bones work well.

It's all trial and error, see what works for you.
I apply mine after I've had my morning shower. Assuming I don't get too hot that seems to work ok.

I see what you mean about the "feel" of the Evorel patches - I thought they would have more give, but they do seem to stick quite well.

Evorel generally stick like #### to a blanket.

There have been so many discussions about how to remove the glue but not how to get them to stick. I have used them for four years and they have never come off.

I can only think it's the shower gel or other product that you are using. I take the old one off before my shower and on that day use a body brush. I don't use any soap at all only my shampoo. I get dried and wander about for a while in my dressing gown. Then I stick a new one on. Generally on my side out of knicker line so they don't get rubbed. Not my bum as you sit on that. They do crinkle a bit as you move and sometimes the edges get fluffy but they stay put.
Trial and error here I think but they are very sticky.
I only use half a patch but it still sticks.

Thanks ladies...will do a proper search, still getting used to the site.

I didn't think about the shower gel and shampoo, I do use a pretty moisturising conditioner for my frizzy mop of hair...didn't even dawn on me that it could affect my skin...d'uh!!

will change a few things and see what happens

 :) :) :) :)

Good luck. Even try washing your hair over the sink and see if they stick.
They are the only patch that will. The other one that is prescribed hardly sticks at all.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Kiltgirl I have been on these since the New Year & I do have sticking issues too but not after just a couple of hours. I try really hard to put it on slowly & leave a warm hand on it for a few minutes. They do seem to crease, curl up & be quite dry by the time changeover comes around & the odd one has stuck quite badly right from the start. I don't have any other patches to compare to know what is normal though. I use my hip & my pants aren't big enough to cover but I am due new ones as I appear to be growing or my others have shrunk :) I was thinking of trying some that would cover better & see if that makes a difference as the patch is in the open air all the time as I wear a lot of cool dresses/tunics etc. B x

I guess a lot of it is trial and error, finding part of me that is less wobbly than the rest...good incentive to lose weight!
I have some vegetable soap in my cabinet, just used some in the shower and it made my skin squeaky clean, not a hint of moisture!!

will all be worth it to get the mojo back

thanks for all your replies...love this site  :) :)

"I use my hip & my pants aren't big enough to cover …… "  :o ……. not Granny pants yet then  ;)

Is it possible to use a small piece of tape across the patch from side-2-side?   to secure to the skin?

I needed to look as I wrote CLKD I had no idea where my pants lie :) I like those shorts type ones that go below my 3 c-sec scars. I think it's time to re think pants though my wardrobe has had to have a huge change to those bandeau dresses that need no bra & just float away & flip flops. I can't wear anything else currently. I foresee big red elastic pant marks so shall get ones with plenty of room. I used to throw my bra in the corner the second I got home from work many years ago, it was relief on an epic scale :). B x

I think I remember from somewhere that this isn't advised - not sure why this is or where I read it  :-\

thank you so much ladies!

After plain soap in the shower I let my skin dry properly then felt around for a bit of skin that didn't move too much when I changed position, so it's been on the outside of my hip below knickers...well and truly stuck...I warmed up my buckwheat eye mask and used that to press it on for ages too...think it did the trick...no rustling or creases!

Def feeling the effects today, mellow but v tired, have just come on too though...feel like I need 40 winks!

thanks again for the advice  :) :) :)
