flight MH17

Dreadful, the world has become a scarier and unsafe place. So sorry for the meaningless loss of life and for the relatives.

That on top of the escalation of the Israeli and Palestinian conflict, so many more innocent civilians losing their lives.

Many of these conflicts are passed down verbally from one family to another, becoming stretched and distorted as the Centuries roll by  :-\ …….. I know how stories become altered in our own family  >:( ……… it would take 1 person to say 'stop' and maybe …….. however, I think men are genetically programmed to fight  >:(, watching kids with sticks in the local playground ……… usually boys from age 3.

So sad.  So un-necessary.

When you board a plane i don't think that you ever really consider the flight path it might be taking.

Had some of those passengers been informed that the airline was still choosing to fly over an area of conflict they may have reconsidered their booking.

The lack of or maybe purposely withholding of that information is something i find scary especially if this is typical with other airlines.

Would we have expected it to be shot out of the sky over Ukraine though?  Some flights from NZ are 8 hours across Russia  :o because it's such a vast, empty land mass ………

Bet they'll be rerouting now. So scary. Thing is was it shot down deliberately or accidentally. Not saying planes should be shot down though. They reckon rebels have the black box recorders. So we'll possibly never know.

Only going by what i have read - other airlines heeded the warning back in April and had rerouted flights already - so why hadn't this airline ? to maintain their cheaper flight maybe ?

My husband used to work in Amsterdam and regularly used the airport- he said a lot of people go there in order to fly out of there because it is often cheaper.

So very very sad.

Putin is now under immense pressure as only the Russian military/their separatist allies have the tech to reach a plane at 35 000 feet.
I've had enough of nationalism/separatism etc - all the 'isms' that create hate and violence between people.
It's just dreadful.

There seems to be so many more militant/terrorist groups now. We just don't know what's coming next.
Radical Islamists pose a huge threat to world peace.

It's the way they think that lives are so dispensable that puzzles me.

Surely we all value life no matter what colour or creed they are.

Nope.  From time immemorial men have fought …… it's almost like getting back at each other ……

I know when my cousin emigrated to Cananda they flew from Amsterdam because it was cheaper.

Trouble is, 'both sides' think they are 'right'  >:(

There may have been fighting since the beginning of time, but it's the weaponry that is used these days, which makes it so scary. Lockerbie, Twin Towers, London Bombings along with all the others,  all imprinted in our brains. We can't let the bad guys win.

Hubby says they have been getting their knickers in a twist over mobile phones etc, but nobody can take yesterday's sort of actions into account.

It's the couple from up beside us who were meant to be on that plane, but there were no seats left. Somebody was watching out for them.

There is nothing to stop you asking your airline what route it uses on the flight when you book or before you board.  In reality, does anyone actually bother to ask?

Sad at the loss of life whatever the age of the deceased.

Members of the Dutch Companies on the Tour de France were wearing black bands or ribbons - who put those together overnight  :-\ there was a minute's silence before the Depart.
