I completely agreed with the sentiment but I just thought it was inappropriate last night.  There are international and local charities for things like this.  Last night wasn't the time for making appeals - it was time to be up-beat and introduce the international athletic teams.

Apart from the first 10 minutes I thought the ceremony was quite good. I'm sure JB was as embarrassed as we were at what he had to sing! And I loved our kilts - thought they were fab! Would have liked a bit more Scottish hee-drum ho-drum music though. Thought Rodders could have done a Scottish song. I felt like crying when the pipe band came on. Pipe music always does that for me - in a good way...........Liked the inclusion of the Andy Stewart bit.

I thought JB did a tremendous job, that was a LOT to remember in a huge setting.  Susan Boyle was lost …. but she picked up and carried on, well done both!  I turned off at 10.30 as I couldn't watch the athletes arriving although some of the costumes were fab.!  England has nowt to compare ……… as for the charity appeal, this is supposed to be a celebration not a reminder of World troubles.

If we thought that the monies raised would reach those affected …….. instead of being syphoned off  :-\

Wiggo is on at T-time - see there's headline stating that he wished he'd never won ……… but haven't read the whole article yet.

Have been to Edinburgh - when I was 11  ::)

It was pre recorded CLKD. He was the one who had to help get the baton open at the ceremony last night.

Mum - aged 87  - was disgusted by the costumes that Kylie and her dancers were wearing  ;D
I watched some of it.  I think the amount raised was £5M? but still think it was not appropriate as a fund raising event!

TBH considering opening ceremony was seen in so many countries, I actually thought they would have raised more.

That crossed my mind but lots of those countries are those that the monies are intended for and maybe, like myself, it was felt an inappropriate idea!

Back to Escape to the Country this afternoon  :-* although it was from 2010 I hadn't seen it before - loved the bungalow with the swimming pool  ;)
