Hrt advice
« on: June 30, 2014, 07:53:06 AM »

Hi ladies

I have recently started hrt and am now at the time I would normally be due on.

About a week prior to getting my period, I suffer anxiety, tearfulness,  brain fog.  Normally once my period starts the symptoms start to ease.

I am suffering all the symptoms I normally get but if I am not going to get a period will these symptoms ease?

Am disappointed to still be feeling like this on hrt.   Perhaps it's too early for the hrt to do its job.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm afraid you need to remind us what HRT you are on? Is it conti or sequi?
When did you start this HRT?
If it is a seque HRT you will have taken the progesterone part which sometimes gives the PMT type symptoms and when you stop the progesterone(but continue with oestrogen) this will trigger a withdrawal bleed - so it mimics your natural cycle.
A bit more info please and we can help you better.

Hi DG, thanks for replying.  I am on Everol Conti patches.  Have only been on them a month so perhaps it's still too early for them to start working. X >:(

Hi Sarah - it's good to see that you are now on HRT - did the menopause clinic give it to you as I remember the GP said no HRT due to migraine?

I am not sure how old you are but you mention having periods. Conti HRT is usually prescribed for women who have had at least a year without a period. The feelings you describe could be your own cycle trying to break through.

Hi Sarahm
I agree with Taz - you say you would be expecting your normal monthly bleed?!
Give us a bit more info.
