Pet Memories :-)
« on: June 06, 2014, 06:40:24 PM »

I had a vision of our little cat today.  We moved here with 2 kittens, shortly after I said to DH "wonder where J is?" to see her running out of the lounge towards me down the hall, tail up, ears looking expectedly :-* - at that point I didn't realise that she knew her name ….. she was 9 months old …….

Of course I had to give her a little treat  ::)

My Goldie honestly thought that my daughter was her puppy. When my daughter was crawling and the dog did not like where she was going she picked her up very carefully by the scruff of the neck (by her clothes)  and carried her to her bed. She was carefully watched but it became clear very quickly that she was so gentle. She stayed by the cot and the pram and guarded her like her own.

It was very special to watch. My gentle girl. :-\

A friend's dog would sit under the pram ……… he was very upset when the window cleaner leaned the ladder over the pram ……….. gave the window cleaner 'the look' and the guy soon moved his ladder  :D

Sitting by the high chair was the favourite place. Bit for me bit for you if I did not watch very carefully.
Almost every photo I have of my daughter as a baby and toddler has a big gold face in it.
No wonder she left such a hole in my heart.

Both my kids want to have a Golden Retriever at some point in their lives. Now I will babysit that  ;D

My cat, which I had put to sleep 9 years ago, aged 16,use to sleep in our wardrobe.
He would slide the door open with his paw and get inside.
We now have his ashes on the shelf in there.

Fondest memories also of my dog who was put to sleep a week ago.
We are preparing a special garden for her for when she is returned to us.
I was in the garden centre yesterday looking for plants when I saw a stand with plaques on that had various names on.
My eyes caught one that had my dogs name on "Jenny's Garden" which I bought to put in her garden.

That's lovely Dyan.

It hurts, don't it   :'( ……….. I found a lead this morning  :-\

My Siamese-type cat used to lift my eyelashes with his lips if he wanted feeding in the early hours i.e. 5.00 a.m. ………… very gently until I giggled  ::)

I've never known hurt like it CLKD.
It is easier today than it was last Monday but I still have moments and I think I hear her sometimes.

Oh when my ginger kittnes were run over - 9 days apart on a busy road  :'( - I would go and open the back door because I knew I heard them outside ......... I had to go even though I knew we had buried them - in case ..........

It was 2 years before I could look at their photos ......... now I have memories of DH digging a row in which to put spuds, one kitten decided he had done a really good job of providing a very clean row of latrines  ;D

That made me laugh and remember the day I'd spent digging over a new flower border, carefully transplanting some bluebells back in.  We sat down for supper, wondered where the dogs were and yes, you've guessed it - they'd dug themselves a couple of nice cool spots in the soil upending all my plants ;D

My friend's Springer pup dug out the daff bulbs as fast as she was planting them  ::)

My JR would chase spiders until they got fed up and ran up the wall. Then she would sit wagging her tail as they wandered across the ceiling  :D

I've got a memory of our late little cat when from she was about 2 years old.  She was out in the back garden, eyeing up a butterfly which had settled on the buddlea in the middle of the garden.  Its wings began to twitch and soon the butterfly took off.  Our cat leapt after it, the butterfly wafted skywards and puss landed in the buddlea with her posterior in the air.  Very ungainly and funny to watch!

And another of our family corgi decades ago - she was out on the pavement when she saw something small-ish and white across the road.   Luckily the road, although wide, was very quiet, because poochie gave chase in an instant, undoubtedly thinking it was a cat.  When she got across the road, it became clear to her that it was a polly bag. She looked sooo embarrassed - if dogs can blush, she blushed!

 ;D

Our Siamese-type used to sit close to the open hearth, if the fire was un-lit he would put his head up the chimney then turn to look at me: he would do that with the blow heater too, gaze closely at the bars then turn to me - 'switch it on, I'm cold'  ;)
